I do consider Bobby B the King of New Jack Swing. He made it mainstream and "Dont Be Cuel" still rules with both Teddy Riley and Laface producing.

He is certainly the King of R&B. Not the good ol skool R&B but the Rap and Bullshyt we hear today. You know the "new jack swing" hate it or love it he did master that particular sound.

The problem with R. Kelly is that while he is successful his music hardly qualifies as original. He basically took the musical concepts of Teddy Riley's production savvy and Aaron Hall's vocal and presentation style and expanded upon them. Most of the people who have been named were also considered innovative artists.
THE TRAFFIC JAMMERS, The Org's house band: VAINANDY -- lead singer; NAJEE -- bass; THE AUDIENCE -- guitar; PHUNKDADDY -- rhythm guitar; ALEX de PARIS -- keyboards; Da PRETTYMAN -- keyboards; FUNKENSTEIN -- drums. HOLD ON TO YOUR DRAWERS!

That's what any artist that wants to get his foot in the door has to do,including the artists named that you believe to be "innovative".

I'm not of fan of R. at all, but he expanded his sound past NJS well over a decade ago and has a distinct sound all his own. Original? Well, you can certainly hear his influences (Marvin, Isleys, Stevie, MJ, Gap Band, etc),but the same can be said of most artists.
I'm sick and tired of the Prince fans being sick and tired of the Prince fans that are sick and tired!
