Alexander O'Neil and Cherelle's Saturday Love top VIBE's duet list forgive me if this is a duplicate post subject wise
but after seeing the Alexander Oneil thread, i thought it might be worth noting that Saturday Love by Alex and Cherrelle tops VIBE's list of 50 great R & B / Hip-Hop duets. Prince and Sheila are #9 with Erotic City. The complete list is in the current issue with Ciara on the cover | |

And that list is one I disagree with. First of all, how are you gonna call "Saturday Love" the greatest duet? It was a good song, but to be number one over anything Marvin and Tammi did is unbelievable to me. "Erotic City?" That's not a duet! Sheila E sang the hook and dropped a few ad-libs. That's not a duet! God... folks really need to do their homework! | |

It's just a list. Like any other list, it comes from one person's point of view. The only difference between this list and one of your own is that it was published in a well known magazine. I'm sure if you listed your favorite duets it would be disputed as well. Granted, I don't get annoyed over lists anymore, so this kind of thing means nothing to me. | |

There is only ONE R&B duet that should be at the top of the list.

Haters hate on. Cherrelle was the songbird of the 80's. Tammi and marvin did their thing during the motown era which was before my time. Rick and Teena's song was great too but i will still take saturday love over fire and desire. Alex and Cherrelle did their thing in the 80's with more duets. Don't laugh at my funk

In all fairness, I don't feel I can take issue with such a list if I cannot see the songs posted. Could the originator of this thread give the names of the songs and the criteria in ranking them? I honestly don't see how and why Vibe would compile a list with soul music duets and rap duets -- usually, the musical focus of the subgenres are geared toward different messages (in soul, it's typically about love and romance; in rap, it's mostly about some unified effort about their skills).
To be fair, I can see poeticrockstar's reaction to the list, particularly with Cherrelle and Alexander O'Neal's "Saturday Love" listed at the top. It's obviously a VERY unscientific poll, because I name plenty of songs that could fit in that very undefined criteria.
