MADONNA: Invisibles, Forbes, Kylie

Press Pictures: Arthur and the Invisibles
Pictures from AP / Reuters Via Yahoo! News
Here are some press pictures of Madonna attending the premiere of her new film Arthur and the Invisibles at the Tribeca Cinemas in New York City last night.

Madonna attended Kylie's concert yesterday
10 January 2007 - Thanks to Andrew, Jonathan, Kevin and Sophie
Last night Madonna and a female friend attended Kylie Minogue's Showgirl: Homecoming concert at London's Wembley Arena.

Madonna viewed the show from the VIP side blocks, and left before the end between Especially For You and Love At First Sight to avoid the crowds.

madonnalicious visitor Kevin attended the show and had the chance to say a quick Hello to Madonna as she enjoyed the VIP bar hospitality area at the arena.

Madonna makes Forbes Richest Women List

Forbes magazine has just published the Top 20 Richest Women in Entertainment list. Madonna ranks at #4, with an conservative estimate net worth of $325 million.

Here's what Lea Goldman and Kirri Blakely of Forbes had to say:
'She could have easily disappeared into pop obscurity like other pop starlets, who came to fame via MTV during the 1980s. But Madonna's masterful manipulation of her image and the press. Combined with an astute business sense have crowned her as one of the most wealthiest and enduring acts.
While her albums don't sell the way they used to, her concerts still set attendance records all over the world, grossing $1 billion over the course of her 20 year career. The Material Girl's portfolio is also crammed with expensive items like contemporary art, real estate and a wardrobe of no small historical significance.'

Forbes list of the 20 Richest Women in Entertainment will be a one-hour special on the E! Network Saturday 20 January. Check your local listings for times.

...conservative estimate net worth of $325 million.

Heck, I'd be happy if someone gave me $325! lol

Here's a pic taken during her live Today show appearance (for which she arrived late!), after Meredith Viera dragged her out of the studio to meet the fans freezing their tails off outside.

Meredith asked her if she missed NYC...Madge said yes, that she wanted to move back, etc. Wonder if THAT will happen? biggrin

She's got some stupid hair. In my opinion, that silly purple leotard and dumb 70's hair (BAD 70's hair) kept "Confessions" from being as much of a success as it could have been.

Or maybe it was just the lack of radio play (in the U.S.)? hmmm shrug

When I read that comment, I was thinking "yeah, and neither do anyone else's!" Sales are just ridiculous now compared to 20 years ago.

easy with the "bitch"-ness turbo.

but no, seriously...i think labels *and* artist need to realize that there is different business model that needs to be used to selling albums...if mary j can still sale a boat loads of albums then it can be done.

but these fly by release a video, do a couple different talk shows and then disappear efforts that stars used in the past just doesn't work anymore.

(and madge's tour was not in support of her album at all...)

just saying.

Confessions...

all but two songs from confessions were featured on the tour. the tour was called "the confessions tour." lol how could that not be in support of the confessions on a dance floor cd?

because (and i can only speak from my experience) there wasn't a coordinated media push for the album and the tour...no radio spots, no local press...what was pushed was "madonna" but not the album. get what i mean?

and she only played a couple of the songs when i saw her.

madonna's shows are tightly choreographed. its highly unlikely she did a unique show for your city.

and every madonna tour is a "madonna" event. lol

are you trying to stir the pot?

Confessions was totally about the Confessions on a Dancefloor cd, even Coachella was for COADF

On the Confessions Tour,Madonna played no less than ten songs from the COADF album:

Future Lovers
Get Together
Jump
Forbidden Love
Isaac
Sorry
Like It Or Not
I Love New York
Let It Will Be
Hung Up

There were only two songs from COADF that she didn't play:

How High
Push

I think it's safe to say that her tour was all about her most recent album lol

'Confessions' sold over 8 million copies worldwide.Of course, she sold more records in the 80s,but 8 million is nothing to sneeze at.Most of her peers aren't selling like that.

If you didn't like Confessions (the album),it's a safe bet that you probably wouldn't like the concert either. The tour was basically a live presentation of that album (with a few oldies thrown in).
