so was Baby Huey the first rapper? My brother wanted to start this topic about Baby Huey and the babysitters and the influence they had on Hip Hop, Chaka Khan being a member at one point and the fact that they were a Chicago act that influence early hip hop etc..
So I took it upon myself to start the topic for him because the org makes you wait for awhile before you can begin to post. Ok let's talk Baby Huey, the Mayfield produced band with arrangements by Donny Hathaway, how could you go wrong? http://en.wikipedia.org/w...y_(singer)

Artists like Baby Huey or Last Poets perhaps were a pre-cursor, or in retrospect sound rap-like, but rapping started in the South Bronx when people hosted the parties while the DJs were mixing, and Baby Huey wasn't there.

Do you think he had an influence on it? Baby Huey and The Last Poets are from Chicago. Are you from NYC or NY? Just wondering?
