Technotronic was NOT a house music act, at least not true Garage house music. They were an act that made a different kind of R&B pop music. Ask any true "house head" and he will tell you. They others that are on this list made more of a contribution to house music. If you really want to hear house music, try looking up Chicago based artists. People like, Mr. Fingers and Marshall Jefferson....You have included Frankie Knuckles on this list, which is great but, you need to go back and add many more. Some of the one's on your list, are commercial artist that have their records remixed to sound like house.

Instead of telling me what I should put on my list, how about making one of your own?

I am not trying to tell u anything. You have some great people on your list. All I am saying is that technotronic, was not a house music act. Lighten up.

question Telling me to lighten up implies that I'm upset, and I'm anything but. It was a suggestion - create a list of your own and add to the discussion. Though I wasn't the one that started this thread or to mention them first, I still say Technotronic is house music.

Technotronic, would be considered dance music not really house music. If anything, they would be commercial house.

That's Get Up by Byron Stingily, formerly of Ten City. It's got some of the vocal hook from Dance (Disco Heat), but it's not a full-on remake. That whole album, The Purist is great (as is his Ten City stuff). I think I played it non-stop for about a year.

When I started the list I was just thinking of House tracks but then I got carried away with the nostalgia like throwing in Strange by EnVogue a mix I was surprised to first hear at Soundfactory. It became a personal favorite but kids seemed to really like it also.

Underground is what I loved best but I don't know names, only when I hear them. Luckily I had some put on CD since my friend was an excellent DJ at the time. I don't play them much anymore but I won't throw them away either. smile

That would by Aly-Us "Follow Me" 1992 on Strictly Rhythm (standard red label, not blue!). I think there is a long 8:02 mix or something like that on the 12", A deeply spiritual track. They used to play this shit at Jamaica House in LA back in the day, they'd just drop it right in the middle of a hip-hop/reggae set, just like that. This is house music at its best! Great bassline, very nice piano parts, just a helluva record completely in the spirit of Philly International and Kenny Gamble's vision of what music ought to be like.
