if beck were swedish and had a fascination with krautrock, europop and 60s supergroup psychedelia, it would still be a bad explanation of what this is like. but kinda close. kinda.

The Alyssa segment is pretty nice. I like the song "Closer To You" the most. I like the way the beat throws.

You mean the riff? Its hard to explain LOL, but i think i know what you mean. That stuff I gave you was the "american" half LOL. "i want your number" is a jam and them some. Ren toppano and an early Jamey jaz knew how to multitrack vocals and suited the slight era of silly blips and beeps often found in music from this time. Their productions on the milano and tommy puett cuts are thick and slick bordering on overproduced. Puett's "heart attack" is incredible for production alone, but also goes down as the cheesiest song ever heard.

Ya, that and the jaunted back-and-forth of the groove. When you think of me and this particular '80s fetish I have *do* think of overproduced, "cheese" and synth-heavy productions, slick engineering. I am in love with how that sounds in my ears. I'm dead serious. smile

Iam with that all the way. Pretty much every track I own is slick as hell. Its no surprise I got into prog, as even though its pretensious, its also overproduced at times.

Shame Tommy puett's "heart attack" cannot be found online anymore. The video deserves a youtube as its so hidious. Dancrella remembered the song and laughed at me LOL, but the song is the exact reason why nirvana and gangster rap came in LOL. To rid of these sort of songs where production took over the melody, lyrics and voice. Most horrid of all for people, is the obnoxious drum programming and icky synth lines, multitracked to death on such tracks like "heart attack". Of course, i own the album LOL.

Prince is guilty of this "overproduction" alot aswell. "tick tick bang" has little melody, but damn do I love that track.

Damn, i sooooo want to blast "heart attack" out loud with the windows open now! But its almost 6am LOL. The intended humour the track has elevates the track aswell. I'll give you a copy soon.
