Klymaxx: Before & After | Discuss

So, im bored at work just chilling..reading chit and I come across this awesome series of articles on EW's website called Chart Flashback that reviews the top ten charts from ten years ago...Heres what the columist had to say about "I Miss You":

5. ''I Miss You,'' Klymaxx
Oh my god, I think I want to smother this song with a pillow! Now, if you'd asked me prior to re-listening if I liked ''I Miss You,'' I would probably have given you a strong positive response... but to be completely honest, I have absolutely no recollection of the verses, bridge, outro, or any part of it that is not the following six words/notes: ''I miss you (I miss you).'' That's it. That's all that's ringing a bell. It's really freaking me out. And the rest of the song, from my shiny new borderline-amnesiac objective perspective, is really boring and slow and cheesy, and it kind of wishes it was a Jackson 5 song but can't quite pull it off, and therefore it is getting a C-.

P.S.: Whatever you do, do not go look at the picture on Klymaxx.org and then laugh. Because that's just mean.

Well, that lead me to their website with this on the front page:

In the new picture I think that's Bernadette Cooper on the left. Lynn is obviously the blonde in the center. Lorena Lungs is on the right if I remember correctly what she looked like on 'Bands Reunited'. So then is that Fenderella between Lorena and Lynn? She's hardly aged at all!

Yup all of them are the original girls... the only one that's missing is the one from the bottom right corner....

You mean top right corner. The bottom right is Cheryl who formed her own Klymaxx group without consent from the other girls and now they aren't speaking to her anymore.

On the older pic...what happened to the member in the upper right hand corner? The one right below her is the member that stabbed them in the back and registered the name Klymaxx...which means if they ever perform under that name they have to pay her. During bands reunited...they refused to reunite with her and performed anyway. I stumbled across a Klymaxx site some time ago and there were other girls in the earlier days which I didn't recognize. However, there was a fifth member during the 80's era and I don't know why they didn't try to track her down for the reunion.
Ohhh you keep saying stay the niiiiiiiiight
Just let me rock you 'til the morning liiiiiiight
It's cold outside
And much too late to driiiiiiiive
You know I need you baby
I'm so lost without your love

The girl in the right top corner was bassist robin grider. I don't recall
during the vh1 special of the guy trying to track her down. I will admit i
wasn't aware of any of their songs prior to the meeting in the ladies room
album but i know jimmy jam and terry lewis worked with them prior to.
They were great during their short run but as usual sometimes with female
groups EGO tends to split you up.

I don't know that may be bernadette cooper in the upper right corner but
their were six members of the group during the meeting in the ladies room
and the next album with sexy, divas need love to tracks on it. Bassist robin
grider was the sixth member but like i said they did not track her down. In the
middle of the sexy album bernadette cooper left to go solo and produce madame x.
After that album fenderella left to go solo and lynn malsby also left too.
The next album the maxx is back saw the group pared down to a trio of lorena lungs, robin grider, and cheryl unruly cooley who really lived up to her nick name in the end. The maxx is back album was relatively weak with the exception of good love and private party but bernadette and fenderella made guest appearences on the album. The 12 inch remix of divas need love to remain among my among my favorites by the band but nothing tops meeting in the ladies room.

peace to phunkdaddy for breaking everything down. the one in the top right in the older pic above is bernadette. yeah she looks great! and so does joyce who put out a rap on a 12 inch during the early eighties. the group put out two lp's prior to meeting in the ladies room. there were then like eight members--all of them and two others. then two of them left.the sound on those two was very different but I am surprised that robin isn't in that older pic. the one under bernadette is the bassist. robin who is missing was the drummer. sorry if I am repeating what was said already. wink
kudos to the starter of this thread for being bored lol

I can say I almost didn't recognize the one on the right in the new pic and two are missing.

Bernadette is NOT in the older photo. I'm guessing it was taken after she left around the time of their self-titled album in 1986. That is Robbin in the top right and she played keyboards not drums. Bernadette was the drummer. Under Robbin is Cheryl and she played guitar not bass. The bassist was Fenderella.
