Any VAN HALEN fans? I just bought van halen's debut and the music is awesome( i don't like DLR though) anyway i just ordered best of both worlds but i heard alot of vh fans weren;t happy with this?
Does the compilation leave out alot of the best songs? p.s should i give DLR singing more listens; does he have some actual nice vocals?

O Man,you are in a lot of trouble if you're saying Sammy is better than Diamond Dave!!!
Dave isn't the greatest singer of all time but he was the best one 4 Van Halen. I took a while 4 me 2 appreciate Sammy,I didn't buy the first album with him, later I did buy ou812,and F.U.C.K. is one of Van Halen's best(even if U only like the music). It was liking trying 2 replace Michael Hutchence from INXS..nobody can! I also wanna buy Best Of Both Worlds, haven't bought it because I already have all those songs.I don't know what could be wrong with songs on it. Maybe to much Sammy, also on the new songs. I thought that would be the problem,2 much Sammy. But don't let that influence the pleasure of listening 2 Van Halen, with Dave or Sammy. Both periods are fun 2 listen 2. Dave at his best;tracks from Women& Children First(Fools,Everybody wants some) and the first album has some great singing IMO. Love4oneanother

Big big Van Halen fan here. My problem with the last best of was the crazy chronology. Having a Dave song then a Sammy one..insane. They shouldve had a disk each and it would've been excellent. As for Sammy albums, the most diverse is OU812 but my fave like a lot of others is FUCK, it has that classic Van Halen sound due to TT producing it. It rocks like no other too.

I love Van Halen, Van Halen II and 5150. When 1984 first came out, I loved it. I bought it again last year after not hearing it for a long while and wasn't too into it anymore, though I still love Hot for Teacher.

I was such a huge fan of the DLR years
Of everything they did 'Romeo Delight' is still my favorite

Love them, but how can you like Van Halen and not like DLR?
Well, I guess it's like the blashpemy of me saying I like Brian Johnson's vocals as much or even better than Bon Scott's for ACDC. "I saw a woman with major Hammer pants on the subway a few weeks ago and totally thought of you." - sextonseven

1984 side one is great and side two is blah Is this album very dated? Full of synths? I might have to take a listen!

Any album with Jump, Panama and Hot For Teacher cannot be bad. It's barely half an hour long. Every song on the debut holds up. It must have been incredible when it came out in '78 because it still sounds awesome now.

thank u VH for providing amazing songs that regardless who sang them live they hold up because Eddie, Alex and Anthony are awesome ...

and not to short change Gary Cherone. He didnt work in this band, for the main reason he couldnt work in Extreme, over bearing guitar wizard who was in total control. Thats not a shot at Eddie but Gary didnt stand a chance in this band, i could never see Gary and Eddie getting along, because mainly when Gary performs he is very similar to early Dave and we know Eddie does have issues with that. Yes! "Dance The Night Away", "Panama" "Jump". "Right Now" "Best Of Both Worlds". All good music.

I like both DLR and Sammy leading VH. The debut, II and 1984 are classic albums and DLR rocks on those. I was prepared to HATE Sammy when he took over but, I honestly say I like his stuff just as much. 5150, OU182, and FUCK are rockin albums too.

I take it you missed my grand Eddie Van Halen shredding thread, where everybody had the gall to say Prince outplayed Eddie. Bad day, but I schooled the cornballs. lol The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame broadcast should make for odd viewing. Just what Van Halen will show up: Eddie drunk with Dave smiling like a crackhead--awsome. lol All you others say Hell Yea!!

I followed Van Halen all through the years and yes the debut is insane also check out Fair Warning there is some awesome Eddie guitar work on that album. I like both eras Dave and Sammy. I have met every member of Van Halen several times and they are all very cool with the exception of one guy. David Lee Roth is the biggest fucking asshole in music, and I thought you know meeting him at the height of his career it maybe just insane for him. I met him in 98 when it was David Lee Who? he is still a dick he has the worst rep of anybody in music. Here's another little secret, Roth is Michael Richards in waiting he just hasn't outted himself yet. I have a black friend who works at an LA radio station and the things she told he said to her made me ashamed I am white.
Eddie Alex Sammy and Mike some of the nicest guys you'd ever want to meet in music, but after meeting Roth you can see why Eddie hates his ass. 23 more days to Ball Dangle Day!!!!!

I'm a causal fan and dig DLR and Sammy but I noticed that the 80s channel plays Van Halen's "When It's Love" waaay too much for my taste. They had a few good ones, but they got a bit pussyfied with some of those songs after DLR's exit. I think they kind of found their groove in the early ninties, IMHO.
