Change of Heart * Cyndi Lauper---Blah!

Is This Love * Survivor---Double Blah!

Victory * Kool & the Gang--Don't remember this song.

Touch Me (I Want Your Body) * Samantha Fox--Eh...she was so hot though!

Notorious * Duran Duran--Pretty funky for DD...love the bass.

I think the intersting thing about that list is take a look at the "age" of those perfromers at the time and compare them to todays artists in the top 40 and whats played and promoted. The youngest person on the chart from 1987 would be Samantha Fox, and i believe at the time she was 20-21 yrs old, everyone else on that chart was easily middle to late 20's and alot were 30's and up.

Oh, how the jams were getting scarcer and scarcer during this era.....

02 * 02 * 16 * C'est La Vie * Robbie Nevil

Decent.

05 * 06 * 13 * Control * Janet Jackson
08 * 13 * 09 * Change of Heart * Cyndi Lauper

These two were some pretty good jams.

1

0 * 11 * 13 * Victory * Kool & the Gang

It's a good song but it sure as hell ain't as good as earlier Kool and the Gang.

15 * 22 * 07 * Livin' on a Prayer * Bon Jovi

OK

19 * 27 * 08 * Ballerina Girl * Lionel Richie

Hell naw! Shit naw! Fuck naw! Hell fuckin' naw! Hell motherfuckin' naw!!!!!

20 * 29 * 09 * Love You Down * Ready for the World
25 * 32 * 11 * You Got It All * The Jets

Two decent slow jams but they sure as hell ain't sexy and "after midnight sounding" like early 80s slow jams such as "Feel Me" by Cameo.

29 * 34 * 12 * Talk to Me * Chico DeBarge

Best song on the list! A jam and a motherfuckin' ass shaker!

33 * 44 * 08 * Jimmy Lee * Aretha Franklin

Hell naw! AC sounding shit!

39 * 52 * 06 * (You gotta) Fight for Your Right (To Party!) * Beastie Boys

'Jimmy Lee' followed OR was preceeded by OR sandwiched between her take on 'Jumpin Jack Flash'(from the Whoopi Goldberg movie) and her duet with George Michael 'Knew You We're Waiting For Me' which were both such huge hits that they overshadowed this one.

I love Carly's 70s output, but I do not like this song. I didn't care for her Oscar-winner either, Let the River Run. I saw a bio of her a couple of years ago, and it wasn't until then that I realized she came from big money...Carly Simon, as in Simon & Schuster.

Yes..she did come from a very affluent background. Her perspective on things is what made her songwriting so interesting.

Her son looks just like James Taylor!

I remember Jumping Jack Flash and I Knew You Were Waiting, of course. But yeah, I wasn't bumping this one.

Test me on just about any other song that made the Top 40 in the 80s and I could give immediate feedback on it.
