I can't really listen to "Dangerous" or "Bad" anymore, they bring up too many bad memories from that period. However, I've been able to watch the live performances from those songs on youtube recently and gotten to enjoy them again in that form.

I didn't get round to buying this album until 2002 (when I was in grade 8), and I remember that I was so obsessed with it. I played it to death...

I really, really loved this album when it came out in grade 8 (and I still do love it). I must've played songs like "Can't Stop" and "By The Way" so much that I'm suprised anything but those 2 songs still register in my brain.

I am ashamed of being obsessed with this album when it came out...

I also must've played old MJ albums a lot. In fact, grade 8 was when I became an MJ fan. I remember I dug up my parent's old Thriller LP one day and listened to. I was obsessed with that album from the day I heard it (which was some time in grade 8). I played it a lot.

That's about the only albums I remember playing a lot in grade 8.

8th grade was my transition year, when I went from my favorite band being New Kids on the Block to Love and Rockets and the Cure. lol I remember really liking Edie Brickell and discovering Depeche Mode and seeking out their entire back catalog. And of course, I still loved Prince.

Junior High was my transition too. I just became more aware of cool things like The Cure and Depeche Mode in 6th grade.

That was quite a heady experience as an 11 year old.

1996-97 was my year in music and just the time period. It was a crazy period too with the death of Tupac and Biggie. And I was a sophomore though. wink

Oh yeah I was all about that CD.. her debut single "I Wanna Be Down" right through to "Baby" the next year.

This was more 7th grade for me. I remember being in a Sam Goody and some older guy (presumably in his 30s) was at a listening station groovin' the hell of out "Movin' On." That's still a sharp memory.

Let's see... 8th grade was:

None of which have really stuck with me; I'll still spin 'Eye' or 'The Perfect Drug' from Lost Highway, but that's about it. I think my musical taste evolved significantly between 8th and 10th grade.

Looking at this thread, I'm glad the '90s are OVER. Lots of ho-hum music in retrospect. Really dark and midtempo.

You can say that again! I was ready for the 90s to be over around 1992 or 1993.

I like this decade better.

This one's even worse. At least the very early 90s had some funky house music. This decade started out midtempo and probably will end midtempo also.
