Jamie was HILARIOUS on Tavis Smiley a few nights ago I dig him as an actor/comedian, but I wish he'd use his "music" for something more than shit like "Unpredictable"

Well, here's a reason to hate on the brotha....
JAMIE FOXX DEFENDS USE OF N-WORD: 'I'm an Oscar winner, but I'm a NIGGA, too.' *The N-word is not for white people to use under any circumstance, explained Jamie Foxx during a set at the Borgata in Atlantic City Sunday night, however, black people should not be banned from using it among each other, he told the crowd. "I'm an Oscar winner, but I'm a ni**a, too.” Foxx said, according to the New York Daily News. Recalling the Michael Richards N-word tirade at the Laugh Factory in November, Foxx continued: "He was just calling us ni**er like it was the '50s! Ni**er, ni**er, with a 'e-r.' Then they said we can't use the word ni**a anymore. That's my sh*t. I need it ... I need the word to describe certain things, because at a certain level of excitement, I need to tell you how the sh*t was, and there ain't no other word that helps me say that better than that word. …White people, you can't use it. ... I would have booked his ass." During the gig, Foxx went on to talk about O.J. Simpson, Prince, Oprah, Angelina Jolie, and even his “Dreamgirls” co-star Eddie Murphy. "Eddie Murphy wears leather pants that are too small and nobody says anything about it," he reportedly said. • On Janet Jackson: "She whispered her entire album. I said, 'What's wrong with my speakers?' " • On O.J.: "O.J. be everywhere, like he still in style, like he got a hot record album. He has no remorse and he crazy. ... He arrogant. What is he doing? Every black person is saying, 'You already got away; don't dance in the end zone!' " • On Angelina Jolie: "You famous when you can just go over to another country and pick up some kids like you're shopping for vegetables. I wish she was adopting when I was coming up. I would have breast-fed till I was 37." • On Oprah: "They say I [sleep with] everybody. So, I'm layin' in bed with Oprah. I lean over to Gayle and say, 'Don't believe this sh*t. It's just between us three!' " http://www.eurweb.com/sto...r30877.cfm

I've been a Jamie Foxx fan since the mid 90's. He's always been this person, it's just on a bigger stage now.

I don't follow his career, (and certainly not his music career) although I do remember him from In Living Color.
I saw him on Oprah though and he just really turned me off. Just SO cocky and full of himself. He even brought all his friends/entourage w/ him on the show and they all talked about what a cad he is. He's very talented, but he's coming across very weird lately. Like he's on some happy drug--floating on his success. I guess I can't really blame him, tho... My Legacy

He MURKED Doug Williams, but Doug was corny and deserved it.
I actually like Jamie more after seeing that! To see him sing though, even though he is clearly talented, I have had a difficult time accepting, because I remember him as the In Living Color guy primarily.

Pryor was hilarious, Carlin was not so funny at all, lot's of silence too... and Rock is more political then funny for the most part...
I'm no Jamie Fox fan, don't know much about his arrogance, but the roast of the roaster was funny... isn't that mean roast shit with no bounderies the whole idea? That's what I thought too. Besides the dude was messing up, he should have had jokes about Emmit, so oh well, I like Jamie. I guess I don't watch enough tv to know about his arrogance ...it's groovy baby

I don't understand why anyone gets worked into a lather over Jamie.
He's talented, but I don't like the way he uses his talent. He's full of himself, but most males in Hollywood with a team full of "yes" people tend to be. He's cross eyed and has a mouth that houses one long tooth on the top and one long tooth on the bottom, but some still swoon cuz good money excuses bad looks (just axe Kid Rock). To me, all of this amounts to an annoyance at worst. Why get so annoyed by somebody? Worse things have happened to Hollywood and the music biz.

Sure, Jamie has a big ego, but name an Oscar winner that doesn't.
He's a passable singer, a better-than-average comic, a talented impersonator, and a proven actor. He's been in the game for over a decade and a half. He's an entertainer, in the mode (not mold) of Sammy Davis, Jr. Good night, sweet Prince | 7 June 1958 - 21 April 2016

I didn't care for him as a comedian because he's too damn silly. When he started doing music and it was shit hop, I really couldn't stand him because he's just another boring dead ass to keep the bullshit genre living. Andy is a four letter word.

How did Jamie Foxx inspire your eleventy billionth screed on hip-hop? He was on Kanye's joint but that's about it. reasonable minds can disagree. Good night, sweet Prince | 7 June 1958 - 21 April 2016

Shit hop is a sound and Jamie Fox's music definately has that sound....the midtempo stripped down sound with the weak ass shit hop sounding drum machines that barely tap. Jamie Foxx as a singer really has a great voice.Check out his freestyle singing on the Clive Davis Party together with Alicia Keys and Angie Stone:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=5yV14kDPxPc But the sad thing is, instead of producing a soulful, great album with that voice he seems to have chosen to go the superstar-collaboration-plastic-hiphop-beats-let's-go-platinum way... I think him trying to come across as "real" and be friends with all the "hot" rappers of the day and all is pretty pathetic imho. Another wasted voice. [Edited 1/18/07 15:10pm]
