ok this thread makes me lol

i'm sure beyonce was fine with it all but Daddy Knowles was probably pissy since he was the executive producer of the soundtrack and probably had to kiss mucho ass to get Beyonce this part.

You're right. I'm sure he was more upset than she was, especially since she took her man instead of her dad. lol Beyonce looked touched and genuinely happy for Jennifer Hudson. She was crying as Jennifer gave her acceptance speech.

I didn't LMFAO at Beyonce. confused I don't make light of other people's pain - unless of course it's anything that makes George W. Bush a bigger ass than he is. That being said:

I didn't actually think Beyonce's part in Dreamgirls was worthy of a nomination. Jennifer Hudson? yes. Eddie Murphy? yes. The film? yes. The song, "Listen"? Yes. In my opinion, Beyonce was "just okay" in the film. shrug (However, this film did add to the fact that Beyonce is one of the most beautiful women entertainers today... absolutely, positively beautiful.)

Question:

When was the last time someone applauded at the screen when the film was over? Those of us in "my" audience applauded when the credits were on and they said, "...and introducing, Jennifer Hudson as Effie". There was an eruption of applause at the screen!

I knew right then and there - Jennifer Hudson will win the Golden Globe and the Academy Award. nod

There - I said it.

So it is written... cool

YES!!

I was at a theatre in Phoenix over the holidays and after Jennifer Hudson sang 'I'm Not Going' and 'Changing'..people were clapping and cheering at the screen...then in the end, just showing her name caused some more cheering...it was unbelieveable!

I love that she and America Ferrar both won...great role models!

peace

Wasn't that nice of Jennifer to dedicate her win last nite to Florence Ballard

I don't understand where all of this dislike for Beyonce is coming from. While she does sometimes act like a "Diva",(this can be surely attributed to her age), she is more talented than most of todays "R&B" stars, that are out there. She can sing and dance at the same time, which again is something that I have not seen most veterans do lately. She writes pretty good material,

On this all I can do is lol
Beyoncé is as much of as a songwriter as William Hung is a singer. As for the shiteous dress, leave it to Mama Knowles to hijack every showgirl off the strip to make her baby the tackiest on the red carpet.

I didn't say I'd never heard applause after a movie played... I said, when was the last time you've heard it?

Also - if my memory serves me right, Denzel won for Glory (best supporting actor) and Training Day (best actor).

Sorry Training Day, either way a Bad representation of what he can do as an actor, it was more like the "We forgot about Malcolm X" award

can we stop beating this dead horse? Robert Duvall, ya know the Academy Award winning actor was asked about difficult roles to pull off in genre films on Inside the Actor's Studio and he used Denzel's performance in Training Day. Its an unlikeable lead role in a film...which rarely happens and Denzel pulled it off. But folks just seem to enjoy acting like racism was a factor. rolleyes

but that has nothing to do with why Beyonce got a "lead" nomination. The films producers have been pushing for Beyonce as a lead cause it would have been easier for her to get the Golden Globe nomination and it wouldn't take away votes from Hudson...whom they have always known was going to be the real chance of winning the Oscar.

Exactly. This was all about the producers getting the people they wanted to win to actually get an award. Jennifer Hudson deserved an award and the spotlight an award would garner and she NEVER would've won if she were in the best actress category...NOT EVER. Beyonce probably wouldn't have won the best supporting actress category and that would've taken away the number of awards the film had won altogether. I always heard the reports say that it was about maximizing oppurtunities.

yeah...they did this with Zeta Jones w/ Chicago...Jones actually has more screen time then Richard Gere (who was being touted for Lead) and a lil less then Zelwiger. But by putting Jones up for Supporting it make it easier for her to win.

that's interesting. i would never have thought about it that way. i just kind of figured when they billed the film the way they did, it was for marketing. more people know beyonce therefore more people will see the movie.

I can't believe you guys are correlating this shit w/ "pain" & "feeling sorry for her" lol hammer

She's been stealing the spotlight from everyone in her midst for YEARS now, and God bless her - she's talented & beautiful nod BUT she can't be the center of the universe ALL the time, even she has to learn that someday despite mostly positive reinforcement all her life. Beyonce is set, the girl has it made - no one can take that away from her. If she can't feel genuine joy for those around her & share a little of the kudos she's so used to drowning in, then fuck her - she's got some tough lessons ahead.

I think her pose on the red carpet @ the Globes says a lot... "notice ME!!" lol She'll get over it, she fucking better disbelief I don't think it's necessarily "funny", but it damn sure ain't sad w/ all the shit going on in the world neutral

Greatest Pits: Just how desperate is Beyoncé to win back some of the attention she's lost to "Dreamgirls" costar Jennifer Hudson, who walked off with both the movie and the accolades? The comely chanteuse strikes her best "hey, check out my star power" pose as she styles a precariously plunging, slit-to-there 14-carat calamity of a metallic gown that even Mariah Carey, who's never met a cleavage-baring piece of sequined sausage casing she couldn't fashion into a constricting ensemble, would find too ticky-tacky for her taste. Not only is the déclassé dress all wrong for the occasion, but it's oh-so-unbecoming on the deliciously curvy Beyoncé, who is also undone by a distracting stick-straight faux 'do that's sure to become an instant favorite among her most devoted female impersonators.

I know. There's skinny people who aren't in shape and look awful. If you are in shape you will have some definition which Beyonce has never previously had.

If you want a reference for an amazing female body; Christiana milian! I would eat her ass!

The level of hostility at her is funny but she HAS to be used to it by now.

She has the Number 1 song on Billboard Hot 100
The soundtrack of the movie is Number 1
