The Art of Noise - "Beatbox"

i've been listening to this track for about 15 years now and it remains
one of my all time favorit beats e.v.e.r.

i just love everything about this song. but there is one thing that has
been bugging me for all this time and that's the voice at the beginning
of the track that says "oh no, oh no, i don't believe it".

see, it's probably rediculous but to me that sounds 100% as if it's the
voice of Annie Lennox.

does anyone know more about this? either if she is or isn't and who it
really is if it's not annie?

beyond that, let's just devote this thread to The Art of Noise.

any fans on the org?

I liked them in the '80s and I still occasionally put on 'The Ambient Collection', an ambient remix collection done by Youth. This is a nice 'chill-out album.

I don't think that's Annie Lennox on the front of 'Beatbox' tho. smile

In the 80's I heard a tune in a t.v. movie called "Cracked-Up".
It was so different.
.
Moments in Love is a fave, even though it's been sampled endlessly.

This is a classic jam! How is the Art of Noise greatest hits? Has anybody heard it? I'm thinking about buying it. The only other song I've heard is the song with the girl in the video trying to saw a guitar in half.

Hell yeah! Art of Noise were funky, posh white boys and girls - their early ZTT releases (Into Battle with the Art Of Noise / Who's Afraid Of The Art Of Noise) are both absolute classics.... early fairlight synths and brilliant use of samples of all sorts of things.

Aside from the big beats of Close (To The Edit) and Beatbox, the other stand out track is Moments In Love - an ambient classic, years ahead of it's time - played at Madonna's wedding I believe. For extra spice, check out the 'three fingers of love mix' wink

Gonna go and bust Into Battle now....

Oh, by the way, personally I would give the greatest hits a miss, and go spend your money on 'Daft' - it's basically a 60 minute compilation of all of the ZTT stuff - all you really need to get you started!

"Funkyslsistah… you ain't funky at all, you just a little ol' prude"!
"It's just my imagination, once again running away with me."

The Drum and Bass collection I've had and listened to for years. I had to replace it I wore it out. It's also on the chill side fo things.

"Chameleon's Dish"from Cracked Up 1987

"below the waste"is another classic Art Of Noise Album.

I love "Beatbox" cool.
I'll have to listen again for the Annie Lennox reference.

The version on Into Battle will always be a classic, but i do love the things they did with the version on Who's Afraid Of The Art Of Noise.

These are some of the best albums they've produced. i will say their Ambient Collection was way slept on.

they disappointed me with the Tom Jones collab. i suppose they had some bills to pay. confused

it has it's moments. Like the zipper sound effect to emphasize Tom's sexiness. I get a giggle when I hear that song.
