I started my Bowie listening with 'best of' and ziggy; anthing else? i'm waiting for ziggy to arrive but i have enjoyed 'best of'; the sound is alot better than i thought(maybe it's just the remasters).
Any more classic albums or compilations?

Oh god yes. You can't go wrong with most of his catelogue.
But if you're going to crack Ziggy first, I'd say pick up "Hunky Dory" and "Aladdin Sane" first to go with it. Then buy everything else.

Hasn;t hunky dory got filler songs? A couple. But most albums do. Despite its very few weak points, it's still a stellar, 5 star album. It's a must for every collection.

During most of the 80's, I'd agree with you. But everything from "Graffiti Bridge" onwards has its share of duds. And there's nothing glaringly wrong with "Hunky Dory". Not even any bad tracks. Just some that don't stand up to the giants around them.

I heard there was alot of complaints about bowing when he mixed the iggy pop album; people thought he did an horrible job. Hey at least he didn;t mix his own albums.

Bowie did very little wrong in the 70s, very similar to Prince in the 80s.
One thing I find Bowie annoying is that he has so many bloody reissues and special editions. Low is acknowledged as a landmark album. I love Young Americans, lots of fans hate it.

Hasn;t hunky dory got filler songs? I think Hunky Dory is much stronger than Alladinsane. I'd say Alladinsane is mostly filler--that is Ziggy leftovers. Not that they're bad. They're like the leftovers from one of the best meals you've ever had. My Legacy

I heard there's a 5.1 surround version of ziggy? I know steve hoffman remastered that album and he is the best so the version he did must sound amazing. what are the best reissues?

i hated it for a really long time...and now, while i still don't LOVE it, i do really LIKE it. i appreciate it, anyway. aside from the hits from the album ("fame", "young americans"), there are a couple of great soul/funk songs ("fascination", "win")...it kinda reminds me of bowie's "newpower soul" - when it's great, it's great...and when it's not, whooboy.

Here's the tracklist and I don't see one bad song Young Americans - love it Win - love it Fascination - very 70s - like it Right - love it Somebody Up There Likes Me - love the vocal Across The Universe - great cover Can You Hear Me - like it Fame - classic The rykodisc version had 2 of his very best outtakes Who Can I Be Now? It's Gonna Be Me Wasn't so fond of the John, I'm Only Dancing version but the album has a beautiful cool sound. Is it the sax or the backing vocals??? Or was it the dramatic stylistic change? I really don't know...

I really don't know... It seems like Bowie really pushes this song. It's cool and all, but I have so many versions on various cd's. More than any other Bowie song, I think. My Legacy
