i'm waiting for ziggy to arrive but i have enjoyed 'best of'; the sound is alot better than i thought(maybe it's just the remasters).

Any more classic albums or compilations?

Oh god yes. You can't go wrong with most of his catelogue.

But if you're going to crack Ziggy first, I'd say pick up "Hunky Dory" and "Aladdin Sane" first to go with it.

Then buy everything else.

And there's nothing glaringly wrong with "Hunky Dory". Not even any bad tracks. Just some that don't stand up to the giants around them.

What's the remaster like? Good sound.

I heard there was alot of complaints about bowing when he mixed the iggy pop album; people thought he did an horrible job. Hey at least he didn;t mix his own albums.

Bowie did very little wrong in the 70s, very similar to Prince in the 80s.

One thing I find Bowie annoying is that he has so many bloody reissues and special editions.

Low is acknowledged as a landmark album. I love Young Americans, lots of fans hate it.

aside from the hits from the album ("fame", "young americans"), there are a couple of great soul/funk songs ("fascination", "win")...it kinda reminds me of bowie's "newpower soul" - when it's great, it's great...and when it's not, whooboy.

Wasn't so fond of the John, I'm Only Dancing version but the album has a beautiful cool sound. Is it the sax or the backing vocals??? Or was it the dramatic stylistic change? I really don't know...
