...recommendations on some really uplifting music. Some gospel maybe, nothing too pop/disco, please.

Well, it isn't gospel, but for uplift, I usually go for:

beautiful music - a mixture of middle eastern and gospel sounds. the music really lives up to the title of the album.

Seriously - it's absolutely brilliant. I've had this album since I was six, and I think it ranks among the most powerful music I've ever heard. I sincerely believe that Presley's greatest moments were his gospel recordings.
