Pat Benatar appreciation thread

Pat has one of the best female voices of the 80's. And she had some fucking GREAT songs, too! I especially liked the way she blended rock and new wave. So what are your favorites?

Mine are:

We Live For Love (reminds me of Blondie's Suzy & Jeffrey)
Hell Is For Children (fabulous fabulous fabulous)
Heartbreaker
Hit Me With Your Best Shot

I know a lot of people that actively and viciously dislike Hell is For Children. lol I like it. She's one of the best rock singers of her era and for some reason, radio liked to tout that she was trained in opera (like rock vocals aren't legit or something). So many good ones. I even like Sex as a Weapon, but my favorite will always be Treat Me Right. Great rock song!

Killer vocalist with killer songs. It's too bad she didn't outlast the eighties. I mean, she's still around but her records aren't very exciting anymore, are they?

"Love is a battlefield" is a brilliant song, one of the few 12" singles i have.

I bought a compilation, but i rarely listen to it, her cover of "Wuthering heights" did nothing for me.

That compilation is pretty good but probably should've been brought down to two discs. I happen to like her cover of "Wuthering Heights". It's pretty faithful to the original, or a little less exotic.

It was a single disc, "The collection", a cheap thing.... lol

Here`s the tracklist:

1. Love Is A Battlefield
2. Heartbreaker
3. We Belong
4. If You Think You Know How To Love Me
5. Lift 'Em On Up
6. Let's Stay Together
7. Don't Walk Away
8. Please Come Home For Christmas
9. Somebody's Baby
10. Payin' The Cost To Be The Boss
11. Wuthering Heights

"Wuthering heights" wasn`t a bad cover, but you know, it`s like that saying "If it ain't broke, don't fix it"...

She has too many great songs to name, but "Heartbreaker", "Promises In The Dark" and "Invincible" would make my Top 3.

"Hit Me With Your Best Shot" and "Looking for a Stranger".

Her husband, Neil Geraldo, is what I think of as the ultimate rock guitarist. If you get a chance to see them in concert, go. You won't be sorry.

I didn't know that. Thanks for the info.

Geraldo produced a band in the 80's called the Del-Lords. One of the best rock bands I ever heard. Too bad they never made it.

When I win the lottery, I'm paying the Del-Lords to re-form and play my "I Won the Lottery" party. You're all invited!

She is highly underrated, worthy of respect and 1 of the few singers of her heyday who can still throw down on a live stage.
