songs I love to hear sang
at my home church
"Total Praise"
"I Love The Lord"
"Order My Steps"

not really into gospel
"be who you are and say what you feel
because those who mind don't matter
and those who matter don't mind."

I said I was gonna take 2007
and try & get more into gospel

I'm not big on that contemporary stuff
I like the music like The Clark Sisters
that gives you that feeling
of being in a small church
packed with no AC, just those church fans

and the organ filling the church
with the choir belting it out
like no tomorrow

man I wish church was still like this
my church has changed so much

we lost some of the soul
once we got the AC, and more room
and all this extra stuff
"be who you are and say what you feel
because those who mind don't matter
and those who matter don't mind."

You won't really care for Tye's second cd at first listen until you repeat it for a while...

I'm not a big gospel fan but there are a few that I like:

Al Green - Everything's gonna be alright (I've loved that song since it came out and still play it alot, actually)

BeBe and Cece Winans - Addictive love

And the song from The Color Purple - Maybe God Is Tryin' To Tell You Somethin' (the song that Shug sang walking from the juke joint to the church...always makes me cry)

tho' I battled blind
love is a fate resigned
memories mar my mind
love it is a fate resigned

Over futile odds
and laughed at by the Gods
and now the final frame

"Peace Be Still" is my all-time favorite. The way it builds up and then gets really quiet...it always has an effect on me. My favorite versions are done by, of course, Rev. James Cleveland and, also, Vanessa Bell Armstrong's live rendition.

I grew up listening to my Grandmother play Rev James Cleveland. I love his song I Stood On The Banks Of Jordan-very moving. Nice choice lameless wink
