Ray Charles' "Pure Genius" - WOW! I got this as a present....
I think the highlight for me is the gems he recorded with The Coockies(Later dubbed as The Raylettes) and the handful of solo cuts these ladies recorded(Margie Hendrix' "Tell The Truth" and Mary Ann's "What Kinda Man Are You?"). Not to mention the rehearsal sessions he did with Ahmet's presence(including the take where Ahmet sang Mess Around like the movie's scene). Some live per4mances and instrumentals to add the perfection(Esp the ones with Milt Jackson). Who else got that boxet? [Edited 1/13/07 12:30pm]

Although the set looks cool and every thing, there are 3 reasons why i won't ever invest in this collection.
1. it's COMPLETE, and when i say "complete", i mean it has all the stuff he did at Atlantic even with most of the studio sessions, live performances, and mixes. 2. it's strictly for completists and avid fans 3. it's way too expensive! I'm not a hardcore Ray Charles fan, but I have and adore the basic stuff like the double-disc Ultimate Hits Collection, Modern Sounds In Country & Western, and The Genius Of Ray Charles. Check me out and add me on:

Thats why I thank the lucky stars its a present Can't stop feeling guilty about it though "whoever" bought me that present, suuuuure spent more handful than pearls Its still an enjoyable listen. There's everything for everybody,,,I think that was HIS juiciest periods ever(b4 he went mainstream with Hit The Road and Georgia). [Edited 1/13/07 13:38pm]

I`m very interested in learning more about his music...
I`ve heard some samples, and there`s one album i have to get, "My world", if only for his version of "Still crazy after all these years". Have you heard it?
