70's Funk Classic of the Day - 'Yes We Can Can' / The Pointer Sisters

I won't insult anyone by asking how many remember this? It's just one of those songs that rarely (for some unknown reason) gets radio play on classic R&B stations. Yet, can you hear this song and not move your ass? Impossible, I say! This Allen Toussaint classic has been recorded by many, but none better than Ruth, Anita, June and Bonnie.

If they didn't take it, someone else would have. That long intro screams "steal me".

It's such a good groove.

The drums without the bassline are used on De La Soul "Breakadawn".

The song is good to listen to, but I can't front, sampling is the reason I know about it.

That's okay. The important thing is, you know. And that's what good use of sampling should do. It should inspire a deeper knowledge of the track. My love of bebop and fusion was, in large part, inspired by some of the great hip-hop of the late 80's and early 90's.
