Greg Dulli / Afghan Whigs / Twilight Singers I am completely obsessed with Greg Dulli right now. I always sorta knew he was a great singer/songwriter, but I haven't gotten deeply into his stuff until recently. WOW... He's just incredible. Any other fans out there? The Twilight Singer's "Powder Burns" CD that came out this year is great, but the killer track is their version of the old standard "Black is the Color of my True Love's Hair." They turn that song completely demented and obsessive, and Dulli's vocals just raise the hair on my arms. If you haven't heard that track, go to iTunes and spend the 99 cents.... totally worth it. Actually the whole album is good - a great covers project called "she loves you." I love what Dulli does with "Summertime" and also with the Bjork track "Hyperballad." did I mention ? I love finding "new" artists that I haven't really explored yet that I can totally get into. I'm now heading off to the used CD shop to see if I can fill out my Afghan Whigs collection!

I've had Gentlemen and Black Love by the Whigs for a few years. Both albums kinda got buried and forgotten about by me during a period when I happened to be picking up a lot of music, and I've never really gone back to give them a good listen. Gentlemen is considered a classic by lots of people, so I think I'll put it in the listening queue for the weekend. [Edited 1/6/07 11:06am]

check out the songs "Crazy", "66" and "Somethin' Hot" from the Whigs album 1965
Gentlemen and Black Love are pretty solid albums but these 3 tracks were the only ones that grabbed me from "1965" what else has Dulli done after that album?

Yeah, 1965 is the only Whigs album I have. Those are all great songs! Since then he's been recording with his new band, The Twilight Singers, and they've put out several amazing CDs... he just keeps getting better, IMHO. I didn't get to the CD store today to find the old Whigs CDs, but I will soon
