Your Absolute 5 Fav. Guitar Solos Ever!

I first off want to state that I do apologise if this subject has been brought up numerous times before in past discussions as it seems to be an obvious and popular ques. to have asked.

But anyway here I go. For all you guitar lovers out there, what are your top 5 favorite guitar solos ever done. Make sure that you state only 5 as I want to get your real feelings about this from all of you, by having to choose your absolute 5 favorite solos of all time, out of all the ones you love and have heard through all your years of listening to music.

A good...but tough question...it would be easy to name anything by Hendrix anything he touched qualifies...but I'll name a few that are not the obvious choices.

In no order:

Slide - Slave

Summer Breeze - Isley Brothers

Europa - Santana

Cliffs of dover - Eric Johnson

Don't tell me what love can do - Van Halen

O.k. I have to name 5 more:

Tin Pan Alley - Stevie Ray Vaughn

Climbing up the ladder - Isleys

Wanting you - Jessie Johnson

Joy in Repetition - P live in NYC (aftershow)

So fine - Mint Condition (but played by Foley)

Alot of Isley Brothers for sure. 'Hope you feel better love' does indeed have quite an incredible solo by Ernie. I have never heard of 'Love Fever' before though. What album is that on?

"Love Fever" is on Showdown. It's an EXTREMELY hard cd (I have it on cassette) to track down. I've searched everywhere. There's another cool solo on there, "Ain't Givin' Up No Love".

Wait a second...Jesse Johnson doesn't play the guitar solo on "777-9311?" I WANT PROOF!!!

Anyways, here's my five:

Jimi Hendrix - Machine Gun
Allan Holdsworth - pick any one, it's dope
John McLaughlin - pick any one, it's dope
Johnny Winter - pick any one, it's dope
Freddie King - pick any one, it's dope

I think REO's guitarist Gary Richrath was so damn good. What a great Les Paul tone.

You could make an argument that Prince took a bit of influence from him. Compare the solo bits at the end of 'Golden Country' to 'Let's Go Crazy'.
