Fleetwood Mac Plans Tour Behind New Album

http://www.billboard.com/...id=1657081

Fleetwood Mac will embark on a 40- to 60-date North American tour of arenas and amphitheaters in April 2003, Billboard.com has learned. The group's most popular lineup of Mick Fleetwood, Stevie Nicks, Lindsay Buckingham, John McVie, and Christine McVie last toured in 1997 with an arena run that grossed $36.2 million in 44 shows; the upcoming tour will include everyone but Christine McVie. The same lineup's first new studio album since 1987's "Tango in the Night" will arrive next spring via Reprise.

A greatest hits package, "The Very Best of Fleetwood Mac," is due Oct. 15 on Reprise. The 36-track, double disc album spans 1975-1997, omitting material recorded by the more blues-oriented edition of the group prior to Buckingham and Nicks' arrival. Nine top-10 hits are included, including "Dreams" (No. 1), "Don't Stop" (No. 3), "Little Lies," and "Hold Me" (both of which reached No. 4).

Three tracks are culled from the group's 1997 reunion album "The Dance": "Go Insane," "I'm So Afraid," and "Big Love" (the original version of which hit No. 5 in 1987). Other tracks include "As Long As You Follow" and "No Questions Asked" from the band's 1988 "Greatest Hits" album.

"The Very Best of Fleetwood Mac" will also feature footage of the band recording the new album, as well as rare live performances, interviews, and music videos.

In related news, Buckingham sings on the cut "The Man Who Loved Women" on Tom Petty's new album, "The Last DJ," due Oct. 8 from Warner Bros.

Here is "The Very Best of Fleetwood Mac" tracklist:

Disc one:
"Go Your Own Way"

ALSO Prince once stated on Larry King Live on CNN (I think it was either in 2000 or 2001) that his influences in music came from a bunch of various artists inlcuding FLEETWOOD MAC. So, there you go.

Blame it on my wild heart,

I love Fleetwood Mac and I will definitely buy this 2-CD Greatest Hits CD.But why isn't Christine McVie joining them on this tour? It won't be the same without her!

damn. just when I can FINALLY see them, Christine is not touring with them this time! I suppose I'll go anyway, but it's like someone just said, I can't be the same without her. Any reason given for her not touring this time?

p.s.
my 2 favorite FleeMac songs are "Dreams" (typical, eh?) & "Silver Spring" a deep & beautiful song..
I'll see you tonight..
in ALL MY DREAMS..

has anyone heard the "Buckingham/Nicks album that they wrote before they signed on w/ The Mac? It's brilliant stuff, on par with anything they did with Fleetwood Mac. The original version of "Crystal" is on that album. Last time i checked it hadn't been released on disc yet due to legal wranglings. They were originally signed to LONDON records i believe. My father has a boot copy of the album transfered to cd, perhaps the album will see the light of day for real so the rest of the MAC fans can experience this great piece of work.

It's absolutely amazing. i have the album in it's origianl packaging and a CD-R of it. The best song on it is "frozen Love." Also known as the song Mick Fleetwood heard that made him want Lindsey and Stevie in the band. Word has it they may ressurect "Races Are Run" or "Long Distance Winner" on the tour next year...BTW the album was released on Polydor records and they were dropped immediately after its release due to poor sales.

Looking forward to the new album.

However, we should get a petition going to persuade/encourage Christine back into the band.
Apparantly she still writes so it seems daft of her to miss this opportunity to share her songs with the world.
A solo album would simply not get the exposure.

It's rumoured to be the last album this line-up will make so she really should give it a go. It just won't be a proper Fleetwood Mac record without her.

Stuff the tour just get in the studio.

Maybe she needs to be reminded of Stevie's Fireflies...
