i'll give it a chance. what worked for me, personally, with erotica was the combination of rnb styles with that new york, urban house sound that was so distinct to that time period. there was a very underground club sound going on in erotica that was indicative of the underground club scene at the time.

To be honest, Neptunes at their best in R&B sound like they're riffing off of Prince or MJ, which I don't mind (to say the LEAST), but I actually can't imagine Madonna on a track like.. say, Gwen's "U Started It".

She's really challengeing her fans...."I dare you to buy this album". Five years ago, maybe but I'm so suck of that sound and everything! Let's just hope this is the inital talking and shit....Wasn't Dr. Dre supposed to be a producer on AL (that would've been an interesting album).

I wouldn't really worry about this rumor.Whenever Madonna starts an album, there are always a million rumors about who she will work with, what the album will sound like, and what direction she will take. The finished project is always something entirely different.Right now,I think she's at the "demo stage"...recording tracks, trying new ideas, seeing what works and what doesn't.

See? That's my point. We always hear crazy rumors when she starts working on an album. In 2002,we heard that Dr.Dre would be producing a track for 'American Life'

MikeMatronik said: Madonna will be collaborating with Pharrell Williams.Sources have confirmed to us that at the same time Madonna is going to work on a new album soon.We were exclusively informed that Madonna will be recording materials to include on a new album in the USA with Pharrell Williams, while rumoured producer Timbaland is not in the picture. From what we have been told Stuart Price will not be on board as a main producer for this album either, as Madonna really wants to make an American hip-hop album, that will put her in the American mainstream for a change. We have no doubt it's gonna be amazing, but in any case we have been told by our sources that it won't be happening any time soon this year. But don't worry, Madonna won't dissapear at all this year, the campaign for "M by Madonna" for H&M is gonna be global and huge, and that's definetly something to look forward to.As always we remind you that this album project is in such an early stage that anything can happen until the moment it will hit the stores, but we like to inform our readers about the buzz going around.
So many contradictions in this article, lol. They say that Madonna is going to "work on a new album soon" but then they turn around and say that "it won't be happening any time soon this year"? Stuart Price has already confirmed that the new CD will be released in 2007.They also insist that Stuart Price "will not be on board as a main producer for this album" but his recent comments seem to suggest otherwise. MadonnaTribe is a good site, but I think they're just trying to top Drownedmadonna....trying to "beat them to the punch" with the latest "news".These two sites have been feuding in recent years.Drownedmadonna is usually the most reliable source.

I dont find this a believable article. Why would Stuart Price indicate that the album was near complete - and that he and Madonna had produced it with some top producers of the moment. People have been going a little nuts since he mentioned that shed be doing some R&B, so i think this is just a rumour thats come out of that hysteria.
In terms of Producers madonna has used, she's only ever really used established producers on The First Album, Like A Virgin & Bedtime Stories. All her other records have been produced with people who are essentially DJ's or remixers or musicians with little to no Production experience: Mark Kamins Jellybean Steve Bray Pat Leonard Shep Pettibone Andre Betts William Orbit Mirwais Stuart Price Im not saying these guys were unkonwns, but they were hardly shit hot producers setting the charts ablaze. The only top producers she's used are Nile Rogers Babyface Dallas Austin Dave Hall Nellee Hooper David Foster Generally speaking, she makes her best music with people she takes a chance on. I have no problem with her doing r&b stuff. I love Bedtime Stories, and the Hip Hop / R&B fusions on Erotica still sound fresh today - however if she's using Pharrel to take her to the top of the charts - Im disappointed as she doesn't need to compromise herself like that. That said I dont beileve this rumour. Maybe Pharrel will produce a track - but not the album - it just wouldn't work right.

Glindathegood said: I'm not too concerned with who Madonna choses as a producer because I have found she always puts her unique spin on things. I almost always like what she does even when I don't like the work the same producers she uses do with other people. She has a way of using producers to her advantage, but still maintaining her own identity, whereas other artists get swallowed up by a producer.
This is true.No matter who she works with, she always puts her own "stamp" on the songs. She has her own identity. She's also not the type of artist who sits back and takes orders from a producer. She makes it clear, early on,that it is a collaboration. One of her earliest producers (Reggie Lucas, who produced "Borderline") actually complained about this, lol. He was used to working with artists who did whatever he told them to.Madonna had her own ideas.

shorttrini said: If you asked me, this is what she needs....she has released nothing but shit in the last 6 years and her sound needs a shot in the arm. This pairing could be as good as the one's that she did for the "Bedtime Stories" , CD. That was a pretty good CD, partly because she teamed up with people with whom, she would not ordinarily team up with. She has been know as an innovator so, let's see if she can get those juices flowing again.
The problem is...in 1994,R&B music was actually good.Babyface was in his prime and Dallas Austin was coming up with some amazing grooves ("Secret").In 2007,things are much different. Most of today's R&B is basically just smoothed-out hip-hop music....boring,midtempo,uninspired bullshit. In 1994,Madonna had no problem coming up with a great R&B album. These days, nobody can seem to come up with a decent R&B album. This is why I'm glad that she stays away from that music, works with European producers and stays away from the tired American music scene. It would be a shame if she now decided to change course. . Yeah, people need to relax.Madonna isn't making a complete R&B album.Stuart pointed out the album will have some R&B on it,but he also said it will have dance music and rock too.

It has been that way since ROL. Bullshit. In 1997 when she was working on ROL,William Orbit wasn't exactly a "hot" producer. In 2000 when she was working on 'Music',Mirwais wasn't exactly a "hot" producer. In 2005 when she was working on 'COADF',Stuart Price wasn't exactly a "hot" producer.Throughout most of her career,Madonna has stayed away from "flavor-of-the-moment" producers ('Bedtime Stories' was an obvious exception). Most of her producers only become known after they work with her.

I know!!! Mikematronic all ready told me I was wrong informed The critics I read over the years always state that Madonna has a good feeling of what is going on in the music scene and she always picks the right producers.I thought she only chooses the well-known producers, seems thet ARE well-known...after working with her.
