Which is probably more than Beyonce can say....And "Dreamgirls" is doing well but not killer at the box office....can Beyonce also brag about having the number one soundtrack this week, too?

okay before everybody goes nuts I like Madonna I have all her cd's but lets keep it real Desperately Seeking Susan was a moderate hit at best and thats being very gracious. Dick Tracey and A league of their own she had supporting roles in and very little critical acclaim. Evita again was pratically a flop at the box office.

Now Madonna as a recording artist can't be fucked with her sales alone say it all, but keep her acting and movies in perspective.

1. Madonna was lead actress in Dick Tracy.

2. Madonna won a Golden Globe award for best leading actress.

Dreamgirls is doing very well. It's only been in limited release, less than 1,000 screens and averaging better per screen than any other film in the top 10.

What she was is awful. It's a fun movie, but she's a cold fish in it. I've liked her in a few films, but that's not one of them. lol

Leading and supporting roles are determined by screentime - not which character they are related to.

i certainly can't name another actress in dick tracy. as far as i'm concerned, madonna was the co-star.

as for the other flicks...all those mentioned were successful films. varying degrees of success but successful nonetheless. and y'all forgot girl 6 and four rooms. she was very entertaining in both of those movies.

Where do people get this stuff? Everyone just wants to assume it was a flop but not true.

The numbers on BoxofficeMojo, which don't even take video into account, beg to differ. The total box office was $141 million, with about 60% coming from the international release. The budget was $55 mil, so the profit was something like $30 just based on box office...."Dreamgirls" can't say that yet since, according to IMDB, it's budget was $70 (I wouldn't doubt with more time and with the DVDs, it will turn a profit). Not saying "Dreamgirls" is a bomb, but there is no way of seeing if it's a hit or not. "Evita" was a finanical hit!

That's kind of what I meant but I guess I was too subtle. Like saying "Yeah she had the number one album but considering the numbers, is that something to brag about".

and let's not forget that many people bought that cd for jennifer hudsen, and not beyonce.

A number one album is a number one album. The low numbers are an industry issue, not Beyonce's.

As Ehuffnsd pointed out,Madonna has been in several hit films.I would also add 'Truth Or Dare' to the list.Yes,it was a documentary and not a real movie, but I seem to remember it being well-received back in 1991.

"Desperately Seeking Susan was a moderate hit at best"

Bullshit. That movie was HUGE back in the spring of 1985.No,I'm not trying to pretend that Maddy is some great actress because she isn't.Most of her movies are shit.I'm just saying that she has several films that were successful and well-received.

I think 'Who's That Girl' is her best movie. She was very good in that.I consider it to be her 'Cherry Moon'....another film that's not nearly as bad as the reviews indicated.

Compared to many other pop artists who have done films (Mariah Carey,Janet Jackson,Prince, etc) she actually hasn't done too bad.

Which was considered a flop by the movie company when its projected profit was extimated at over 100 million

Go look at the stats for desperately seeking susan it didn't even chart for 1985.

Truth or Dare is disqualified for 2 reasons one madonna wasn't acting she was playing herself and 2 it was a documentary
