They Just Said On VH1 Classic

That Michael jacksons Thiller is the second biggest selling record of all time I thought it was the first. What has over sold and how many in sales?

I know it was around the 40 million mark with Pink Floyds the Wall behind it with 35 million

Relax. The Eagles Greatest Hit Vol 1 is the biggest selling album ever in the USA.

Michael Jackson's Thriller is still the biggest selling album in the world at 50+ million copies to date.

I wonder if billboard would have the correct stats, because some charts don't allow a compilation album (the Eagles Greatest Hits) to be considered in all time sales charts.

For me I'd like to know what is the USA totals for best selling original material studio album, as well as world wide sales same catagory.

That's correct. Also, when they come up with these types of certifications,I think they should only count studio albums.Greatest hits albums should be excluded since they consist of previously released material. There should be a separate listing for the biggest selling "Greatest Hits" albums, imo.

Michael Jackson has the biggest selling SOLO artist's album of all time. No one else comes close. No question about it.

The Eagles Greatest Hits Volume One is the biggest selling album... for now.

Truthfully, they've been going back and forth between first and second for the last several years. But, no one can doubt the influence and power that is/was Thriller. A compilation disc becoming the biggest selling album is kind of cheating, imo. But, it is what it is.
