Night Flight played old rock films too, remember?

Like "Rude Boy." smile

yup. and what was the one about the punk kids, "another state of mind" or something like that?

growing up in the culture-deprived bowels of the midwest, 'night flight' was my oxygen. i would sit up all night with a tape in the VCR, ready to record everything that i thought looked cool...then i'd watch the tape all week until the next night flights came on.

No kidding.

I lived in a Nebraska town of nearly 4,000 from age 9-16... I survived with Fri & Sat night video shows and old movies. I sometimes got up in the middle of the night to watch them in secret. shhh

i miss friday night videos the most, because it was the show i watched the most since my folks didn't have cable yet. it was the program where i saw prince for the very first time--i remember seeing the videos for "icnttpoym" and "alphabet st." on there (i loved the hell outta that video).

weirdly enough i can still remember the last video i ever saw on friday night videos before it went off the air: "love overboard" by gladys knight and the pips, back in 1988.

You didn't get New York Hot Tracks in your state Tony? It was on at the same time as Friday Night Videos (at least in NYC). They played all the urban clips that FNV was too scared to play--like Rick James.

I remember a "Hot Tracks" but, I don't know if it was "NY" or not...it sounds familiar...was it on cable?

fridays were great because i'd start out bouncing between friday night videos/night flight/and the all night TBS video show, then when FNV was over, i'd bounce between TBS and USA for the rest of the night, then usually wind up watching night flight for the rest of the night, cuz i think TBS repeated itself halfway through (if i remember correctly)...

I miss DANCE MUSIC shows. I miss Club MTV, Global Groove. I miss when America actually gave a damn about programming dance music.

Plus, now that I'm of age I never got a chance to be on one! :fuming: lol

i miss club mtv too, because i loved to watch the people actually dance, as opposed to what passes for dancing nowadays. that, and i dug a lot of the tunes that were on there as well.

It was on ABC in New York. It actually premiered a few weeks BEFORE Friday Night Videos. The show specialized in R&B and dance music. Carlos DeJesus from NY's WKTU was the host. Soap stars Debbie Morgan and Darnell Williams took over later on.

Remember all of those groups in the early 90s (C+C Music Factory, Black Box et al) who used Martha Wash's voice and then showed models in their videos singing?

Soul Train (while Don was THE host!) From the 70's to the early 80's

The Midnight Special (ABC) sentimental favorite for Wolfman Jack and the 70's acts.

Club MTV (MTV) Ah, the college years

Friday Night Videos (NBC) this takes me back to the early and mid-80's. could it really have been THAT long ago?

Here's a show that no one will remember:

2nd Generation - a video show for Latin freestyle videos. Andy "Panda" Tripoli was one of the hosts. It was goofy.
