Justin playing a "hardened killer" in Alpha Dog Anyone else laughing their ass off whenever a commercial comes on TV for Alpha Dog? Justin's supposed to be playing a nefarious killer of some sort (work those fake tats, Jus), but everytime he speaks it's pure comedy. That voice - just NOT made for movies. The Plot sounds like a story I saw on Dateline. If its the same story then Justin is also playing Gay.

Unless of course they rewrote that bit of truth . They did, from what I heard. The movie apparently has him cavorting with a bunch of chicks.

I think the flick is going to suck a big one and choke. It's written and directed by Nick Cassavetes (son of the legendary John) - sometime soft porn actor and one of the worst film directors working today. And then, yup, Justin as a "hardened killer" ... There are three sides to every story. My side, your side, and the truth. And no one is lying. Memories shared serve each one differently

OK you make it sound like a cheap porn where Justin kills people with an erection.

Well Justin isn't the lead actor, from what I've read he's just co starring. Granted I have no doubt that this film will bomb, but I think its got more to do with a bad screenplay and a iffy director.
The story of Jesse James Hollywood, is actually a very interesting read. It just looks like someone took the idea and wrote a bad ABC afterschool special. The Most Important Thing In Life Is Sincerity....Once You Can Fake That, You Can Fake Anything.

The film is covering the same ground that Larry Clarke's (no doubt infinitely superior) "Bully" did. There are three sides to every story. My side, your side, and the truth. And no one is lying. I think the commercials look great.
Justin seems a very natural actor. I think he's going to be the best of this latest crop of pop singer-actors. He'll definitely be better than Usher and certainly Beyonce. Justin's charisma is unmistakable. That's the quality that is going to make him a success in movies, music, whatever. Again he has a naturalness in conveying emotions and character and that's what acting is about. He'll be convincing as a hardened killer ...probably more convincing than Denzel was as a bodyguard in Man on Fire. He was so slow and lethargic it's a wonder he wasn't killed in the first five mintues. If we believed that, it will take no greater leap of faith to believe Justin in Alpha Dog. * Note: I am a Denzel fan, mostly of his older stuff. But he missed in both Man on Fire and the Manchurian Candidate.

Well this is usually the time of the year that the movie companies put out the movies that they feel are not their best, not that they suck, but movies that they feel can bridge the gap between January and Award season, basically since they know that people are tapped out from the holidays, and the last thing they wanna do is put down 10 dollars on a film, but the movie companies throw them out there anyway with the hope they will make some money. As someone who makes films, i wouldnt go see this movie just based on what i see presented in the previews, its seems like the typical teen/sex/violence flick, with Bruce Willis thrown in there to give it some kind of merit, not sure what he was thinking, but then again hes doing Die Hard 4 with the kid from the mac commercials, so go figure. So as you will see in the coming weeks the Companies basically clearing out the vaults of movies they have, also theres the Alicia Keys/Ben Affleck movie which is screening terrible, and the Remake of the "Hitcher", like that was necessary, since the movie is barely 20 years old. Yeah, I guess it would be funny if you can't decipher the post and think the acting abilities are being compared. The original poster thinks Justin won't be believable because he's Justin. But people metamorphose in film becoming things they aren't. And Denzel clearly is no bodyguard and his acting as such was a complete stretch since he lost his chops after Malcolm X. Yep, that's right ...lost his chops.

But he missed in both Man on Fire and the Manchurian Candidate. Denzel played similar characters in Man on Fire and Manchurian Candidate - psychologically disturbed men of war haunted (literally in the case of MC) by their pasts. In Manchurian Candidate he's on medication and has a brain implant; in Man on Fire he's an alcoholic (hence the "lethargy" and "slowness" you mentioned). I thought he gave outstanding, nuanced performances in both films which single-handedly raised the films' quality. He did the same in Training Day, making a highly implausible story somehow work. That's the mark of a great actor. [Edited 1/10/07 23:48pm] There are three sides to every story. My side, your side, and the truth. And no one is lying. Memories shared serve each one differently
