This is surreal...I was gonna do a thread about this song a few days ago!!! eek I swear, you are reading my mind! My sister got me a 70s movie for Christmas.....a 1973 animated film called 'Heavy Traffic' and throughout the film, they play "Scarborough Fair" by Sergio Mendes and Brazil 66.I thought "I gotta do a thread on this"...lol...you beat me to it.

Of Coooouuurse I'm hip to Sergio & B-66! lol. They perfectly reflect the cool, bossa flavoured mod lifestyle of the 60's, one of my favorite periods for fashion art music, ect. I'm in my mid-30's now, and I was familair with Mendes' other Brazil projects in the 70's, pleasant enough but not the same. My awakening occurred the day I stumbled upon a series of B.'66 lps in a Ft. Lauderdale thrift store in 1993. Once tried, there was no turning back!

biggrin Ndeed!! From this album, Sergio Mendes and Brasil '88 (even though the year was '79) Magic Lady:

But my all time favorite was 1976's Home Cookin', which featured the bass playing of Louis Johnson, who was just releasing the first Brothers Johnson album that same year, Look Out For #1...

I throw this record on sometimes when I have some friends over to the house. It's a pretty neat album, but not a pivotal jazz album, imo.
