The Future Of Music

I hate to be the person that says all the new generation of music sucks. However there seems to be a decline in musicianship, teen pop has ruled the charts longer than I think anyone anticipated. Clear Channel rules the airwaves and has little interest in changing their narrowminded limited playlists.

It seems alot of musicians have gone underground or turned to the internet to be heard, and it seems real music must suffer at the hands of corporate greed and consolidation.

I hate the feeling of being old or sounding old when I say everything new sucks, so is there new artist that is in the mainstream, with a major label deal and trying to play the corporate shuffle that you think could possibly save the future of music?

Why does the "saviour" of music have to come from the mainstream, with a major label deal, trying to play the corporate shuffle?

Because very few get the time of day coming from the underground the general public are lazy and don't seek out the underground. To prove my point further do you ever look at page 2 of general discussion?

The only thing that's going to save it is for these corporations to go bankrupt. With the internet these days, I hope that happens.

it may happen, major retailers like Tower and Sam Goody are closing, and ringtones are doing better than music downloads

It's like going to McDonald's & ordering a "Happy Meal"
It'll only keep U kids happy for a LITTLE WHILE!!!!!
It's REAL SIMPLE: the industry needs to be "artist driven" like it USED TO BE!!!!
back when U could tell Fleetwood Mac from Steely Dan
Nowadays if Scott Storch, Pharrell or Just Blaze ain't doin' your tracks, U don't stand a SNOWBALL'Z CHANCE IN HELL!!!!!

There is hope however: Stax records was JUST RE-ACTIVATED!!!!!
Signees include Earth, Wind & Fire Angie Stone
....and the return of ISAAC HAYES!!!!!

I agree. While I don't like most mainstream music, most of the music I like is mainstream. Most legends are mainstream after all--Beatles, Prince, Jimi, etc.

Just because most mainstream music sucks doesn't mean I don't crave great, innovative, yet popular, music
