AGAIN? Will there ever be a time when she will give us and herself break?
"When Michael Jackson is just singing and dancing, you just think this is an astonishing talent. And he has had this astounding talent all his life, but we want him to be floored as well. We really donĀ“t like the idea that he could have it all."

As previously said she's on schedule. She normally releases a new album every 2 years or so.

***Madonna will do a song with Mary J.Blige for this album---In a recent interview,Mary said that she wants to collaborate with Madonna. It has been reported that Madonna contacted her,but who knows if a collaboration will really happen?

Oh hell naw! When I saw the word R&B, it kind of raised my eyebrow but then I remembered what people consider R&B these days.....shit hop. After seeing who she's contacted, I see I was right.

I hear ya! That's why I'm hoping that, when they say R&B,they're not referring to the boring,midtempo,hip-hop sounding crap that pollutes the airwaves these days lol I'd be pissed if Madonna made an album like that.

I hope leaves the R&B crap off the album and delivers and a kick-ass electro/rock album!

She's was always a leader, not a follower!

I know what you mean. I think the popularity of Mary again, R&B is starting to sound more like R&B and less like hip-hop, which is probably a good thing for both! I think if she does make an R&B album in the vien of BS, it might sound good but she'll be repeating herself and in strange way...She'll be repeating something she isn't known for. Hopefully the album will be a progression of COADF....Maybe funky ass R&B with lots of electronic influence. BTW, I was thinking how fucking cool would if be if Madonna did something like record the album in Detroit. Talk about back to your roots!

The thing is, everyone talks about "Bedtime Stories" like it's the only R+B album she's ever made. All 4 of her albums from the 80's had a heavy dose of R+B mixed in with the dance and pop. I think it's a natural fit for her. It's just been so long since she's done anything with it, it might seem unusual.

ok can I ask a really dumb question? What specifically are the R&B elements in her music. Mid-tempo? Can you break it down for me?

Her debut is an R&B record. "Holiday" is R&B/disco/funk-lite. "Lucky Star" if sung by a black artist would be all over old school stations today.

Exactly.

She had those elements all throughout her 80's work.

The album "Like A Prayer" is loaded with it too. Just take some of the singles alone.

"Like A Prayer" is a near gospel opus.

"Express Yourself" is an old school soul rave-up.

"Cherish" could almost pass for a 60's girl group tribute.

"Keep It Together" is vintage Sly.

Then there's the Prince duet.

R+B and Soul music were not new to her as of "Bedtime Stories". That just happened to be the trendiest and most obvious example of it in her work.

I'll be glad if she gets back to it again. I've been wanting it for years now.

I agree with everything that you guys are saying.Madonna has been adding R&B elements into her music from the very beginning. But the problem is,today's R&B is creatively bankrupt.Back in the 80s,that genre was still going strong. That's why she was able to get top-notch material from the great R&B producers of the day (Reggie Lucas,Niles Rodgers, etc). In 1994 when she did 'Bedtime Stories',Babyface was in his prime and Dallas Austin was coming up with some truly outstanding grooves ("Secret").However, these days things are different.Today's R&B is nothing more than bland,midtempo,hip-hop-inspired crap.I'm actually surprised that Janet's latest CD flopped....it's filled with the exact type of mindless music that is dominating the charts right now.If Maddy wants to add some R&B to the mix this time around, fine. But if I hear about her calling R.Kelly or Will.i.am to contribute, that's when you'll see me getting pissed lol I like the way Madonna has largely steered clear of American music trends on her last four albums....working with (mostly) unknown European producers who give her a more edgy sound.

It surprises me that you hate Beyonce and Mary J. Blige as much as you do. Did you dislike Aaliyah too?

To me, all three of those ladies have a distinct style and a wealth of great material.

No,I don't really hate them,I just hate most of today's R&B.I hate the way today's R&B basically just follows hip-hop...using the exact same elements instead of trying to distinguish itself as something unique.Keep in mind that I grew up in the 70s,a soulfully rich period lol It's hard to accept the crap that passes for "soul music" these days.

Same here. Until I saw the video for Lucky Star, I thought she was black, simply because she was being played on the R&B stations. Granted, I was 9-years-old, so I have no frame of reference.

don't forget Madonna grew up in Detroit when Motown was at its peak so she has a heavy RnB influence. Also Disco sprung from RnB and Disco gave birth to Dance so her roots are planted firmly in RnB
