Shatner is amazing, Im finally glad that people have caught on to him and love the fact that he is everywhere, doing everything from acting to writing to singing (speaking), and now he has the producers of Star Trek XI begging him to be in it because they know with him in it more people will go, they just have to figure a way to work that out since the character died already. But HAS BEEN is incredible!
Tracklisting Common People It hasnt happend yet You'll have time Thats me Trying What have you done Together Familiar Love Ideal Woman Has Been I cant get behind that Real Shatner Co-penned half of the tracks And the supporting players on the album Ben Folds Brad Paisley Aimee Mann Adrian Belew Joe Jackson (another underrated GENIUS!!) and many others The most introspective track has to be "What Have You Done" penned by Shatner himself, about the tragic death of his Second Wife a few years back, this track is just Shatner and one band member on Upright Bass. Listen to the opening song "Common People" here:
http://www.myspace.com/shatnercover Listen to 3 more songs from this CD here: http://www.myspace.com/shatnana I really do love this CD. The lyrics are kinda dark, with some biting social commentary. Ben Folds did a kick ass job of making the music listenable and entertaining. "I can't get behind that" is a duet with Henry Rollins and was a bit of a hit on collage radio.

As far as the other musicians, Joe Jackson has been doing alot of work with Ben Folds and i think everyone just had that admiration for Shatner, I mean, who cant admire a guy who is tons of success and is still sought after by everyone, and hes in his 70's. I thought he had become a bad joke, and well known for his lack of acting skills. On "spaced out" the cd with spock., he can't sing at all, spock sounds okay though, like a poor version of Johnny Cash.

thedribbler said: I thought he had become a bad joke... Well, he even addresses people with this attitude on the song "Has Been" Has been You talkin' to me? You talkin' to me? You callin' me, has been? What'd you say your name is? Jack Never done jack Glad to meet ya Who's your friend? Dick Don't say dick Whaddya know? And you friend, what's your handle? Don Two thumbs Don Riding on their armchairs They dream of wealth and fame Fear is their companion Nintendo is their game Never done jack and two thumbs Don And sidekick don't say dick We'll laugh at others failures Though they have not done shit . I like him, always have and I dunno why! He was 1 very pretty white boy in star-trek. He emanates something very cool and he doesn't take himself too seriously, he seems like a very likeable chap!
I've seen him act, dance, heard him sing, and all that he did badly. And still I like him. maybe u can explain it. That text is impressive, I'm looking forward to hearing the CD.
