This is a late entry from 2006, but it's fast becoming a 2007 favorite. If you dig uncluttered funk driven by guitar and basslines (a few cuts have horns), you'll dig it. Vocals are great in a soul vein like Sly or Stevie and the positivity of the lyrics bring EWF to mind. Some late 2006 jazz acquistions that I'm really enjoying are: 
This time MMW join Scofield as equals not as his employees. Great outing that pushes to the outside. 
Dave Holland's fronts some the best active bands in acoustic jazz. Some great music here. 
I always dig Garrett's acoustic outings. Consistently great, though he alternates a fusion joint in between. test | |

If this is the act I'm thinking of, I like them. They were on some television program a few years back (the Grammys, maybe? i dunno) and the lead dude plays guitar sitting down? Clearly I don't know a lot. I'll have to find out more.  | |
