1980s Jam of the Day: The Jacksons "Lovely One" This was the lead single from the 1980 album "Triumph," which also featured the ballad "This Place Hotel" (also known as "Heartbreak Hotel") and the classic Jacksons anthem "Can You Feel It." Listening to it, you reminisce how funky and polished Michael and his brothers could be. Oh man this song rocks. I brought the CD a couple of months ago and the whole album kicks ass. Lovely One is a song I can keep on repeat. How can you sit still with this song? Great stuff. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that | |

The slamming gut-bucket guitar picking and horn riffs after the chorus is what made "Lovely One," IMO. I personally enjoyed Michael's singing with the material he did with his brothers, because a lot of The Jacksons' material had a understated funky element. What is a man profited if he shall gain the whole world and lose his soul? Michael may have gained a lot going solo but, some might say he lost a lot too. Anyway, I love "Triumph." 'Lovely One' has always been one of my favorite Jacksons' tunes. And, the live version? Come on, now. Just pure funk. It doesn't get much better. | |

OMG that song is one of the best!!! I love randomly singing it, I was humming that on the subway and didn't care who heard if you think that song is good, you should hear it being sung live on the triumph tour and bad tour, those vocals of his are DELICIOUS!!!!
the song reminds me a little bit of shake your body down to the ground(and even mj admitted that in the moonwalk book from what I remember reading) | |
