During the 70s and 80s, we had a local "Soul Train" type half hour dance show called "Black Gold". The host was much more hip talking than Don and he danced too. The dancers were also way better than the dancers on "Soul Train". Since "Soul Train" was a national show, a lot of them were so concerned with modeling, looking pretty, and doing some of those choreographed looking dances like they used to do on "Solid Gold". On "Black Gold", there was plenty of ass shakin', titties rollin', and practically fucking with clothes on. The choice of songs was much better too because they played album tracks and 12 Inches. "Soul Train" mainly played stuff from the top 20.

The Al Green performances were incredible. If I weren't already a huge fan, I'd be a new fan after seeing him doing "Here I Am (Come and Take Me)". I loved it. Definitely the kind of thing you don't see on Soul Train nowadays. Which leads me to wonder if these vintage shows could somehow lead to a more permanent thing (assuming the broadcasts of old shows is temporary). Current artists would certainly protest since that would be one less (classic) venue for them to get television exposure, but what do you guys think of the chances of the older shows being syndicated as a regular, ongoing thing in their own right?

I loved Al's performances too. Now THAT is soul music! clapping I dont see why old episodes of shows like Soul Train cant air on TVLand instead of endless marathons of Andy Griffith when Id rather watch The Jeffersons! (but thats another thread)

They must really know how to party in Japan. Hell, there are Japanese imports from local funk bands such as Freedom and Wynd Chymes from back in the day that were recorded in a studio just across town. Now they have greatest hits CDs that aren't even available in the groups' hometown but they are available as a Japanese import. America has become dead. I guess Japan is the place to be these days. lol

Don't tell me she's still on there. I thought she bailed out years ago.
