FASHION FEVER.

:::

Level 42 :: Fashion Fever (1987)

I am obsessed with this song by Level 42. And I'm sorta-kinda dealing with my mini-fetish for 1987. I was back home over the holidays and went shopping with my brother @ Amoeba and it sparked in me to search for some old records. I've been meaning to get up on some more Level 42 so I stumbled across their titles and found just Running In The Family and Level Best. My brother had World Machine on his list, but it was out of stock, so instead of picking a greatest hits comp, I decided to pick up the Running In The Family record. It's very good and I'm all over the song "Fashion Fever." I love and identify with the lyrics. The way the backing vox cut out in mid-harmony is hot. And, of course, the groove is undeniable. This is fastly becoming one of my fave L42 tracks.

FASHION FEVER
forever brand new
always out of date
fashion fever
it's all about you
tomorrow is too late
and when the fever fakes the feel
you must be sure of your appeal

Fashion fever
forever brand new
always out of date
fashion fever
it's all about you
you'll be too late if you hesitate
I see you live behind that smile
with cold blue baby eyes
you cut me up with razor style
dancing in disguise (dancing in disguise)
you chance your face to suit your hair
look into the mirror again
and I'll be there
forever laughing
watching as you play
fashion fever
forever dancing
there's no time to sway yeah
and when the fever starts to fade
you know you may have gone too far
and what is left is anyone's guess
no one knows who you are

Don't scratch me with your tiger mind
and freaky fantasies
you say you can't be satisfied
well I'm sure you never will (sure you never will)
you look en vogue
to seek the scene
try turning all the pages again
and I'll be there
forever laughing
watching as you play
fashion fever
forever dancing
there's no time to sway
fashion fever
forever brand new
always out of date
fashion fever
it's all about you
tomorrow is too late, yeah

Dur danga dong
dur danga dong
zeeba doo wah!!!

I do own that album, but I can't remember this song? I don't mind a bit of level 42, but they are a wee bit too samey for me.

Hmmm. Well, it's on the version of the album with the bonus track "Freedom Someday." Does that ring a bell?

I don't know if this version is imported or domestic since it was in the used section.

sexofit, is that an album in your sig?

Wooo, my typing is really funky tonite. lol

Oh, the track is on the album. Iam sure I use to skip it though LOL. My fav cut of theirs is "guaranteed". Its the poppiest cut of theirs, but its a nice song.

Oh, the sig is by an artist called Michael Gleason. He was in the band AD in the 80's. The solo album the sig comes from was produced by him and John and Dino Elephante (of Kansas fame).

Heres a yousendit link that i made (iam bored LOL so its cool if you don't bother to download). Its very, very digital sounding and very polished sounding. Thats why I love it LOL. The link should work....

This was my favourite song for a while off Running In The Family. It does have a monster groove. It changed though and To Be With You Again was my cut of choice.

Hmmm. Maybe I should've added "Level 42" to the thread title. I take it if he's really up on L42, those words will find him anyway. lol
