Billy Corgan breaks his silence on the reunion

Smashing Pumpkins leader Billy Corgan has confirmed the release of a new album in 2007 and a world tour.

Posting on the band's Myspace site, Corgan wrote: "This year for us will see a new album of songs and a world tour of tears, and we truly look forward to playing again for fans young, old and missed.

"..Tunes are being dusted off, while others are being asked to kindly submit to an upstart millennia and all it's asking...when we opened the lid on this music box, we were pleasantly surprised at the music that played: familiar yet unknown, welcoming but not sentimental."

Corgan did not confirm if founding members James Iha and D'arcy Wretzky would be joining him and drummer Jimmy Chamberlin for the new album and tour.

Jimmy is on board...I thought they got rid of him with the whole Jon Melvoin scandal...

since this whole thing was announced last year, there's been NO confirmation that the other two would be rejoining...which leads me to think billy's bluffing as long as he can to get fans excited enough to make it attractive to james and d'arcy.

whatever's going on, it smells faintly of bullshit.
