SenseOfDoubt

I had lots of them (real cheesy stuff), but I cleaned up my whole archive (albums and mp3 library)... once I had (and liked...) albums by Bachman Turner Overdrive and The Bellamy Brothers. cool

Maybe now I could mention Billy Joel. I like 52nd street and Innocent Man - but I am not always that sure and was thinking of giving his albums away.

I spent a long time fighting it, but I've had to give in to Justin's FutureSex. Sorry, but "My Love" and most of those other tracks are stright slammin' and it's taken me a long time to be comfortable with my music tastes to give into that.

They (Supertramp) are one of those bands I never really knew anything about. I mean, I recognized their songs on the radio as a kid, but I never knew for a long time who it was. lol Then I realized I really liked them.

Kind of like how I realized that I really did like the Xanadu soundtrack, and Olivia Newton John after Dan put the movie on for me one day. lol

Hall and Oates go well with my 10cc and Supertramp playlist actually. nod I was going to start a 10cc thread way back, but then I just got lazy. lol I'm making myself a 10cc t-shirt in fact. lol

I'll add some of Chicago's songs on my list as well. hmmm And I used to make fun of Elton John, but I am addicted to his 70s stuff right now. cloud9

hmmm I'm amazed that people are semi-ashamed of some of the music they like.

The video for "Out of Touch" though has got to be one of the cheesiest ever. falloff The one w/ the giant drum that they get flattened by and then peeled off the floor. I always imagine the video director/s of this video sitting there throwing around ideas about what they were going to do. disbelief

I SWEAR I was just talking about this video at the Mpls. Invasion with someone. confuse

Some things are the musical equivalent of pet rocks, parachute pants and high top fades...they're faddish, silly, awful/ fugly or just plain crap, but they were the shit for a hot second or popular among a certain subculture. The sort of stuff where it holds a fond place in your heart for whatever reason, but is also likely to make you look back in a decade and laugh in what in the hell was I thinking sort of way.

This post is all in fun....if we were really all that concerned about our cool points, this thread would've never existed or had zero replies....we're embracing our inner dork biggrin

Oh yeah and old metal - Slayer, Early Metallica, Judas Preist, Pantera, etc.

Absolutely NOTHING to be ashamed of there. headbang I still listen to old Metallica on a regular basis. I find it great for cleaning the house. I feel like I'm on speed and can get a lot done in a short amount of time. lol
