wedding bell blues is a nice little ditty. I think Stoned Soul Picnic was their best.

I haven`t heard that one... I looked it up now, and saw it was written by Laura Nyro, who also wrote "Wedding bell blues", "Stoney end" and "Time and love"

I love this song, and it could probably put a tear in my eye (I'm a bit of a sentimental fool)
I played it for my wife recently, saying isn't this great? And she laughed in my face! Ouch!

She thinks the Marilyn McCoo vocal was a bit much ("kind of Cheesy") but I love it. Like I said, it's so happy-sad that it could make me cry, even though the music reminds me of Sesame Street.

We had Sesame street here in Norway too when i was a kid, but of course a norwegian version I do know the song "Sing", i like that one... "Sing, sing a song Make it simple to last Your whole life long Don't worry that it's not Good enough for anyone Else to hear Just sing, sing a song"

I don't know why but when i think of this group i think of them ridin
in the air in a balloon. Just like i picture the carpenters riding down the street on a 3 wheel bicycle. Can you say cheese? [Edited 1/2/07 17:46pm] Don't laugh at my funk
This funk is a serious joint

In today's cynical age it may come off as pretty cheesy, but I think it's a good representation of its era (late 60s-early 70s) - lots of love, optimism, and heart. I get almost none of that from anything on the radio today, period.
The world can be spoon-fed it's Diane Warren-penned utter crap - I for one am going to stick with cheesy, wonderful, old-timey classics like this!

I'm not even sure where to start. how about: Englebert Humperdink "After The Lovin'" Tom Jones "It's Not Unusual" Dione Warwick "Do You Know the Way To San Jose?" Carpenters "We've Only Just Begun" - there's another happy-sad one that just tears me apart

I haven`t heard the Humperdink (!) song though... I`ll check it out.
