Couldn't get past striking resemblence between her and this pic...

Anyway, 4get about angry, she comes across as bitter, at some points. But I have to give it to her for telling the truth on SO many levels about Arabic actresses. The fact also, that some of the recent Egyptian movies are clone/rip-off of western movies which brings NO type of relevence to the Arabic street,,,I'm glad she pointed that out, coz it bothered me too :not:

Frankly, I never viewed Yussra as a real actress myself too. The REAL actress who carried the torch after Fatin Hamama imho is Abla Kamel. She's a ball of emotions, anybody who can handle the dramatic as well as(the harder) the comic so naturaly, is a REAL actress, and she wears that title to the bone.

I personaly, never took Sherihan that much seriously up untill I've seen this movie by her(I think from Yosif Shahin) its called "Arak el-balah" in which she made a REAL tense per4mance, thats when she won me over like that *snapping my finger* she talked about the movie in the article. But I don't know if it did recieve the acclaim and success like she predicted.

Ark El-Balah was very acclaimed, critically.

She even won Best Actress on Cairo's Film Festival, but she wasn't there 'cause she was hospitalised then (early stage of the disease)

Back 2 her bitter tone in that interview,

it's got loads 2 do with the Egyptian Television's treatment to her.

As you know, Sheri has been doing Fawazeer 4 them since 85 for 6 straight years,

untill the infamous incident of 93 when the television's chairman gave her the cold shoulder on her Hagat Wa Mihtagat fawazeer (her last 2 date).

She wanted to start shooting it at least a year before Ramadan so things could be finished off neatly, but they kept postponing and yet she put up with it even though she's got loads of offers from other cable channels but she turned them down 'cause she wanted to do it on her "home's" TV.

Anyway, they scheduled her to 1 month b4 ramadan that Ramadan arrived with her literally sleeping over the studio 'cause the shooting was not over yet, and they kept working till the 20th of Ramadan!!

She said they'd shoot an episode today 2 be ready 4 tomorrow, it was THAT hectic. And apparently the quality was poor as heck since the budget was also tight that sometimes -without her knowing- they'd not add the "cartoon character" that she's supposed to talk to on each episode, so you'd see her talking 2 herself!

That marked the beginning of her disappearing, till she came back 4 or 5 years later with Ark El-Balah,, disappear again,, then come back with Al-Ishq Wa El-Dam,, then the serious critical stage of her disease took over and she disappeared all 2gether till this very minute.

Figures rolleyes Thats just a simple example though. Egyptian media has been in decline eversince Mubarak took control over the country.

Speaking of corrupt Mubarak(and this is off topic), this film screams a BIG "Fuck you" message to the whole Mubarak administration....

I understand it caused a BIG havoc becoz some of them say its spreading a false message about Egypt. What do you think of this movie?

My cousin took me to the movie theatres to see it,,,,I have to say that the person who stole the show is Hind Sabry and Adel Imam's son out of ALL that big names bunch.

I got the film on DVD but honestly i've yet to watch it.

Hend Sabry's been getting lots of buzz on her role, and so has Khaled Al-Sawi (the homosexual character).

I'm also looking 4ward 2 seeing Nour El-Sherif's role as i respect him 2 bits.

P.S. Irony being, Is'aad Younis (the woman to the very left on poster) is the 1st wife of Sherihan's husband! LOL

I heard that when they took Sherihan to do te surgery. She(Is'aad) ordered to have ALL of the theaters in Egypt to play Sherihan's movies for a WHOLE month. She paid for the expenses too.

Sounds like a real person, to me.
