Oh if you've got the remastered version of SSU, listen to the live performance of All Through The Night that's on there. Stunning.

Didn't know there was one. When'd it come out? Is it an import?

Didn't know there was one. When'd it come out? Is it an import? No, it should be the version stocked in all stores now. I think it came out in 2001. It has these extra tracks: Money Changes Everything (Live) She Bop (Live) All Through The Night (Live) which were B-sides on 12'' singles, if my memory doesn't fail me. I will send you the ATTN one

Cyndi gets my vote for having two of the best songs on the whole album:

I don't listen past All Through The Night on SSU, but it doesn't matter since the first 6 songs are so strong. I love Time After Time, adore the Money Changes Everything cover, and appreciate the fact that Cyndi didn't fuck with the genders in When You Were Mine.
That's why I like both those remakes. She made them her own without compromising anything at all about them. That also applies (probably even more so) to "All Through the Night." "Whitney was purely and simply one of a kind." ~ Clive Davis

I even liked her version of What's Going On, which is a song that should never be covered.

The real battle should be against Like A Virgin.
In this care I would go for Cyndi Lauper's album

Regardless, they both had hits charting on the pop chart in both 1983 and 1984 and, as you said, were their solo debuts. The comparison is apt. Mike just wanted to voice his dislike for Like A Virgin again.
