I know I am really late to this conversation but Mary J Blige's CD was one of my favorites for 2006. I don't buy a lot of CD's (gotta save my money for Prince) so it was good to buy a good one. 1 Thessalonians 5:23

This is the album that Jarvis Cocker wrote most of the lyrics for right? I heard about it on another thread (maybe from you actually ) Odd that she would have him write most of the lyrics for her. They don't sound like typical Jarvis lyrics though, which is interesting. Funny because I was just watching this documentary about Serge Gainsbourg and Jane Birkin and slowly realized that she was their daughter. There are some cool pics of her w/ Jarvis on her site though. i've been meaning to check this album out for a while now but i keep forgetting to. i really have to go for it now i guess! and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

by the way, this was my number 1 album for 2006. kinda sad when a 3 song EP of outtakes from a cd released prior is the best album of 2006, lol. although i have to say Beck's "The Information", as well as Thom Yorke's "The Eraser" are both really great albums. pretty much excellent. plus i like justin t and nelly f's albums cause they're fun and pretenceless. and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

This is my absolute favourite of the year!!! It may not be the one i've listened the most, but it definately has made the greatest impact. edit: heh. Damosuzuki, i just noticed a funny typo in your post. It's not "Tilt" of course, but "Drift". (Tilt is his album from 1995(?) and almost as weird and equally as good) [Edited 1/8/07 12:11pm] ********************************************

Quintessence - 5AM: Funked up, Jazzy, Kool stuff, (from Finland, of all places, lol!!)...Definitely a Badu/ D'angelo/ Incognito/Downtempo / Afro-beat feel... Especially the latter is really excellent old school funk/soul album. Nu-Spirit Helsinki is really stylish and cool but also a bit boring, but so is Quintessence in my opinion... ********************************************
