j-dilla instrumentals!

Love the dilla instrumental stuff I am collecting. So far I have The Shining, donuts(monster!!!underrated classic!),volume 3,welcome 2 detroit, and ,of course, the dilla tribute by j-rocc that was on i-tunes.He's a very insteresting creator. There are more titles available and I want them all.His style is ...very.. informed. He was obviously in love with hip hop,but had a very open mind and let all other styles in.Donuts is just so classy and smart it's ridiculous. There is nothing like it. madlib's "the beat konductor" is in the same vein and I really dig that cd and madlib,in general, but Donuts is on a whole other level than anything. As I said,Dill and his music are hip hop informed, but there was clearly a lot else goin' on in that man's mind.A fantastic artist.I know he may be too subtle for most, but ..damn!It's like appreciating the movie Lost in Translation or digging an Air cd...it's a quiet and beautiful treat if you let it in.

you know he'll be missed. hopefully someone will pick up the torch so to speak. but each person is unique. they can be influenced, but there'll never be another dilla. i fell out of love with hip hop a long time ago, so i can't say i've studied him, (not to mention that Slum was an overrated Tribe wanna be group) but i appreciate his individuality.

clapping Co-signing your entire post. IMHO, Donuts was the only classic to come out of 2006. It is innovative/WAY ahead of the curve, sorta like when Endtroducing first dropped.

volume 3

Is this the one where Dilla makes a clean loop out of James Brown "My Thing"? blowup I love that. I think some of that stuff will be on 2007's Jay Love Japan.
