Already sick of these biopic movies that exploit the subjects of these films Two years removed from Ray, I'm already getting sick of biographical movie. In five years when this trend climaxes at it's ultimate peak, people are going to get tired of them and stop going to them. My fear is that actors or singer/rappers who just turned into a actor or actress after making it big in music will see this as an opportunity as the easy road to the grand daddy of all awards the Oscar Award. Usher to me is guilty already of signing on to play the lead roles in multi-biopics at one time, trying to hedge bets on the best chance to win awards, fame, etc. This is about exploitation of the subject of that movie's legacy, death, image, reputation and money by people who have greedy self-interests.
Although biopics are important in helping expose the work and life of the subject whose life they are using as material, but these projects must be treated with intergrity and competence and not for any selfish motives. Screenwriters, actors, actresses, directors, and other people who make Hollywood go 'round should work on introducing more original movies into their cinema, because if all Hollywood wants to do is shoot get-rich-quick biopics nothing original will be produced for generations coming afterward in the future. 3121 #1 THIS YEAR

biopics are a trend? I can understand some of your complaints, but haven't they been making biopics as long as they have been making movies. a psychotic is someone who just figured out what's going on

honestly, i'd rather see a big production biopic, than those tired sequels and remakes of movies already done in the past and remakes of broadway shows. I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

I'd rather they make a major film documentary with loads of classic and rare footage and interviews and some new insights into an artist if possible, rather than some 'biopic' that simplifies the person's life to the point of stupidity, with some generally poor soundalike/ lookalike in the main role. When I think of 'biopics', I get images of Kirk Douglas as 'Van Gough' from his 195? film.
I've not seen 'Ray' or 'Walk the Line' (Two recent examples) so can't comment on these.
