Loved their harmonies - they were basically a rock 'n roll barbershop quartet smile

not really a fan of them, but Good Vibrations and (especially) God Only Knows are sublime.

'I Get Around' always makes me smile.

IMO, the Beach Boys when led by Brian Wilson were one of the best bands/ artists of the '60s, equalling the work of the Beatles on 'Sgt Pepper' with 'Pet Sounds' and the (then) unfinished 'Smile'. I think Wilson is/was probably the single most gifted composer/arranger/prodicer in all '60s pop. He was like Lennon/McCartney and George Martin combined; he just phoned out for (most of) the lyrics.

Their (less Brian-centred) late '60s and early '70s work is often underrated too. Check out 'Friends' and 'Sunflower' for more sublime slightly later BB sounds. smile

They're an excellent band. I simply like this song. Not a favorite of mine but it's fun. These days, I can't help but think of the opening sequence of Look Who's Talking when the little spermies were making their way through the fallopian tubes to this tune.

They were probably tied with the The Supremes, The Rolling Stones and The Beatles for the most 45s in my collection growing up.

I still have quite a few of them including...

...I Get Around

Some other favorite Beach Boy tunes:

Be True To Your School
Fun, Fun, Fun
Dance, Dance, Dance
Help Me, Rhonda
Wouldn't It Be Nice
Sloop John B.
Good Vibrations
When I Grow Up (To Be A Man)
Heroes And Villains
Darlin'
Sail On, Sailor
God Only Knows
Surf's Up

In My Room star star star star
The Warmth Of The Sun star star star star
Don't Worry Baby star star star star

When I got this comp...

...I thought I had it made.

That's until I realized it didn't include The Warmth Of The Sun, Sail On, Sailor and Surf's Up. confused
I'd trade those for Come And Go With Me, Rock And Roll Music and Kokomo any day.

"Don't Worry, Baby" has got to be one of the greatest songs of all time. Period. Brian Wilson wrote material for Jan and Dean as well, hence the similarity in sound.

"Caroline No" is also conspicuously absent.
