Eric Clapton 'Grand Illusion'

Is anyone familiar with this pretty much unkown Clapton song from his 'August' album? I think the song is really lovely and has one of Clapton's most passionate and emotional vocal performances ever(of course not on par with his 'Bell Bottom Blues' vocal though).

However I think that its a song more people should know about and I think it could have certainly been a hit for Eric had it ever been released as a single.

Wow, this is one of my all time fav songs. Its quite haunting and I can relate to it (well who can't?).

The guitar solo really comes to life on this track.

I read Donny Osmond covered this song? I can see why, as lyrically its perfect for him. He must of done it in the 80's, or at least, I hope he did. I don't know if it ever got officially released? Maybe a b-side?
