This has got to be the best thing Gladys Knight did after she left the pips.

It`s almost 12 minutes long, but at the end of the song you just wish she could have kept on singing...

Hell, I'm not even THAT hip to her music when she was with The Pips,,,let alone her solo stuff.

The ONLY reason I'm fimiliar with her "Superwoman" project is becoz of the drama backstage between Patti and Dionne,,,,and becoz of the tension they had with Aretha when they teamed up for Oprah's 40th b-day.

Other than that,,,,,nada!

I didn`t know there were any drama between Patti LaBelle and Dionne Warwick. Do you know what it was about?

Aretha Franklin doesn`t get along with anyone, does she?

Patti being Patti, was louder than anybody during the recording session. And Dionne being Dionne tried to school her on HOW to sing, which is a no-no since both are from the same music generation. Patti didn't take that too nicely and of course had some choice words for Dionne,,,,poor ol' Gladys was @ the middle of this mess.

As for Aretha, she showed up @ the taping,,,,late!; no hi and no hello, and a dismissive attitude 2ward everybody on top of that.

I can understand Dionne Warwick wanting Patti to keep it simple... Sorry, but she can be a little too much for me at times. She did sing with power in her voice in this song too, but she didn`t overdo it, so it sounded really good

I think i read somewhere that Aretha shared some thoughts about Gladys Knight in her book. If i`m correct she said that Gladys Knight was suffering from stress due to career dissapointments, and that she would pray for her!! What a vile woman

I`m listening to her music A LOT these days, every album she made in the 60s, 70s and early 80s are brilliant.
There`s been many singers who have been able to make the listeners feel, but no one can compare to Aretha Franklin.
Listening to her sing the line "i don`t want to be alone" in "Angel" is just amazing, gets me everytime.

I always feel akward when i`m trying to explain these things, but maybe you know what i mean...

As for albums, I've been trying like hell to get th 2 albums she did with Luther Vandross @ the early 80's. No sign of finding those anywhere

I have those. "Get it right" i found in an old record store here in Norway. I think i got "Jump to it" on a website 3 or 4 years ago. "Jump to it" is the winner, with the beautiful songs like "Just my daydream", and "This is for real. The uptempo tracks are good too, especially the title track, "Love me right" and her cover of "It`s your thing"

"Get it right" is a good one too, the title track, "When you love me like that" and her cover of the temptations "I wish it would rain" are all decent songs, with Aretha sounding GREAT. I like the way her voice sounded at this time, it has gotten deeper and had a different quality to it.

There`s some copies at amazon marketplace, but they`re quite pricey.

This doesn`t look so bad though...
