Madonna/Gwen/Fergie I was just watching a bit of a Gwen concert on TV and it struck me: Is she not the poor man's Madonna, with Fergie being the poorer man's Gwen?  | |

fergie is like one of those weird toys you find for sale in a mexican gas station that you think is supposed to be a darth vader knockoff, but by the same token it could be a spiderman knockoff - it's hard to tell. it's so chintzy and weird, you almost want to buy it for the kitsch factor, but you simply don't want your home junked up any more than it already is, so you leave it behind to gather dust until the next curious tourist happens across it.

at least gwen has some kind of iconic quality that she seems to have a hand in designing. she has an aura of healthiness, of energy, a bit of punk/alt semi-cred (not really, but compared to fugglie she's fuckin' siouxsie sioux) - you get an idea that gwen really WANTS to appreciate quality music. she had some great producers and musicians on her last solo album. i do believe that at the very least, the intent is there with gwen. i may not like her, but i WANT to.

I kinda dig Gwen in a she's-stylin'-and-I'd-do-her sorta way (she's kinda like Madonna with less smarts and a ska fetish). But Fergie? I think the phrase "low-rent" was quite possibly coined for her.  | |

Madonna = limited singing voice, biggest female icon of the last 50 years, innovator, has lots of gay male, 30 year old women, and occasional token straight guy fans who SUCK HER DICK (read: buy every CD, DVD, and book with her name on it ), can command the biggest numbers for any female solo pop star on the planet when it comes to touring, genuis business woman, great dancer

honestly speaking both gwen & fergie stink.
