The closest thing to a mandatory Smiths studio album would be 'The Queen Is Dead'.

Yeah. "Louder Than Bombs" is a great comp too.

I could go on. But I won't.

Yeah, but even with the best Cure albums they all have at least 1 or 2 weak tracks that tarnish their perfection.

yeah, I'm a smithshead down to my bones. I can't explain why. I've never been as addicted to a band as to them in my life. it's odd though because I NEVER listen to them anymore except when they come on the radio. Don't even own any of their albums anymore. Don't need to, really. lol

redface I don't know a single Morrissey song. I guess I just got my fill and that was it! Maybe some day I'll listen to Morrissey. hmmm I'm really attached to the Smiths you see. I'd be interested in seeing Morrissey live perhaps.

The Smiths.

Though Disentigration(sp?) is a lovely piece of work by The Cure, the Smiths' "The Queen is Dead", and "Strangers Here We Come" totally give me a boner.

That's rather puzzling to me. I've listened to Kiss Me ad nauseum because it was one of my favorite albums at the time, but there were definitely tracks I got sick of and I wore it out relatively quickly compared to any of the Smiths albums I was addicted to. And now, I can just get into a few of those Kiss Me songs whereas the Smiths still give me thrill... confuse ...and I like the Cure.

lol

Here's where I just don't understand that position.

I've always thought Kiss Me, Kiss Me. etc. was the "Rave Un2 The Joy Fantastic" of cure albums. Great songs, but he album lacks something to me. I would have loved a slimmed down version of the album boxed

My favorite Cure albums in order are:

1) Head through the Door (The D&P of Cure albums lol )
2) Pornography (to me this is the "SOTT" of Cure albums)
3) Disintegration (the Rainbow Children of Cure albums)

I love their albums. I was a Cure fan long before liking the Smiths, but unlike the Smiths, there are always songs on cure Albums I simply have to skip. This isn't the case with a few Smiths albums--I can listen to them song-to-song, and then replay them still.

I do find comparing the two odd though...confuse It's like comparing Prince and MJ to me--each has their own talent, but they don't line up against each other well. shrug

Seventeen Seconds is really fantastic. Need to get the reissue soon. A few days ago I got Pornography, and I think it's bloody great. What do you think of this one?

Anyway, seems like I have to check out The smiths... sad

I actually like how many Joy Division and New Order titles have nothing to do with the lyrics.

They're more like overall impressions of the songs.

Listening to the Smiths is like spending the evening with my brother-in-law. Listen to him for five minutes? He’s funny, charming, and clever. Half an hour? His witticisms are getting tired, and I’m getting a little irritated and starting to wish he’d shut up. By the end of the evening I’m usually playing out murder scenarios in my head.

Thank you. You've perfectly described how I feel about The Smiths. I love them in small doses.

The Cure, on the other hand, I can listen to for ages.

Kiss Me: The Snakepit, One More Time, Fight

Disintegration: Same Deep Water as You

I'm sorry but these were just sub-par tracks to me. Therefore the Smiths win.

Both bands have weak songs, and both have masterpieces I just think overall Moz has went further artistically. With Cure you know its always going to be the same lushness and slow rock beats. Moz changed things up.

I feel exactly the opposite. The Cure seem to be able to tackle almost any style whereas Moz keeps writing the same song over and over.

I'm somewhere between these 2 fellas. And still I like both bands. Morrissey hasn't lost much bite with the years, but then, he never had enough
