I was just going to say the cure and forget about it, but when i started to think of it i had to pause. Cause really it comes down to Moz or Bob.
Yes the Smiths broke up long ago, but Moz was able to go solo and have a career that at least equalled that of the smiths. Hell some of his bands were better musically than the original line up. Bob on the other hand kept the cure but kept changing members that it just became Bob with a line up. Which really leads me to this conclusion Bob stayed rather stagnant, same lush sounds, same lyrical content. Really not much growth. Moz on the other hand changed and grew with his artistry, which wasn't always great mind you. I love both artist but Overall I would have to go with Moz. In some cases, I actually like Morrissey's solo work better than him w/ The Smiths. "I saw a woman with major Hammer pants on the subway a few weeks ago and totally thought of you." - sextonseven

Because of you, I will answer; Madonna. Anyways. The Cure, of course. Morrissey (and Michael Stipe, you monkey-man) do(es) to me what Madonna does to The Dribbler; they make me wanna smash their faces in. While I know they are actually kewl people, esp Stipe. And kewl people love them. But damn, Morrissey;

I'm serious. I love Morrissey, find Bob Smith dull and repetative (also, his hair is terrible), but the Bunnymen's original line-up are the best band ever from Liverpool.

Are you drunk yet? Still going from last night, actually. I only popped in for a change of clothing and to rearrange my hair. To the house, obviously, not the org. That would just be an odd thing to say. And I'm not big on odd things. Except numbers. The right page on newspapers always has the best news and the breasts.

Too true, sir. The only papers worth reading are the one's that contain breasts. I'm not sure whether to carry on drinking or not. I guess what that really means is that I'll carry on drinking.

The quarry album is brilliant. M's got staying power. They both gave me so much, I feel grateful to them both personally. They gave me more than entertainment! I thought about it, but I still can't decide. Unlike madonna, if you ignore morrissey he'll go away.

I love The Cure!! They have amazing songs I love their music videos too, very cool concepts.

I'd say the Cure are more creative and the Smiths were more musically/lyrically talented.
I've bored of the Cure in many instances, but the Smiths still surprise me. That being said, I do like both.

the smiths often seemed more cynical, but that's an intregal part of their existance. I never could get enough of the cure, The more often I listened 2 them the more far away they seemed. I dunno.

The Smiths don't have a "Disintegration" or "Kiss Me" or "Head on the Door" or "Seventeen Seconds" or a... I could go on. But I won't.

It's a debate that just can't be had. They're both incredibly great bands. I happen to have a much deeper connection to the Smiths though.

I missed the boat on both these bands but I think Morrisey only has one song that has ever stirred me and it's the "I am human and I need to be loved" song. I think that is one of the most amazing songs ever created in the history of music. But the rest of their shit is annoying as hell I could never get behind the whole celibate thing and although I am really not sure what Robert Smith stands for or what his whole persona is supposed to represent I think they have made better music.
So the Cure for me. . [Edited 1/3/07 11:03am] 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

So the Cure for me. . [Edited 1/3/07 11:03am] That would be "How Soon Is Now". That was the first Smiths song I ever heard. To call that song a classic would be an understatement.
