Madonna: Movie director Dotmusic

Madonna will make her movie directing debut in 2007, according to reports.

The pop superstar is understood to be getting behind the camera for a movie entitled Blade To The Heat.

Madonna's own company, Maverick Entertainment, are listed as the producers of the film in an entry at hollywood.com.

Apparently the movie is a "boxing story loosely based on the 1959 bout between Emile Griffith and Benny 'Kid' Paret."

Maybe I just don't like Boxing Movies and don't feel we need another. That and a Baseball movie with Kevin Costner.

I think as a creative behind the scenes artiste she rules. Putting together her shows and shit she always shines. As long as she isn't reading the dialogue off the page then it's all good. I just wonder which MAJOR studio will back this/distribute. Might have to be an indie film on Showtime.

I hope she gets the dates right. That bout occured in '62, not '59. Griffin was only ever KO'd by one boxer, Ruben Hurricane Carter.

You don't need to act to direct, much less act well. And directing is very different than giving acting instruction. If she could put the magic in it that she puts into her shows, it could be fantastic. Boxing is a strange angle though. I think she should do an experimental film, break boundaries and all that. But I'm afraid she won't.
